NHL’s Erat to Receive Free Lifetime Services from Terminix for Scoring on Tuukka Rask

A recently discovered species of wasp is being named after Boston Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask, which prompted Terminix to offer free lifetime services to the first player to score on Rask. That honor, and those services, goes to Martin Erat of the Arizona Coyotes, who scored on Rask on Saturday.

Terminix announced last week on Facebook a promotion tied into recent news that a newly discovered species of wasp is being named after Boston Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask. The Facebook post read:

We’re in the business of defeating bugs. That’s why we’re offering free Terminix services for life to the next player who scores on professional hockey player Tuukka Rask, who had a species of wasp names for him this week. You heard right: The next player to light the lamp on “The Wasp” never has to worry about bugs again!”

Martin Erat of the Arizona Coyotes scored on Rask on Saturday, and will receive the lifetime services from Terminix.

Rask is being giving the honor of having a newly discovered species of wasp discovered in East Africa named after him. Robert S. Copeland, an entomologist and Bruins fan who grew up in Newton, Mass., has decided to name the wasp Thaumatodryinus tuukkaraski.

The story will be told in a paper to appear in the scientific journal Acta Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae. An excerpt from the paper, which has been accepted and will be published in April, notes: “This species is named after the acrobatic goaltender for the Finnish National ice hockey team and the Boston Bruins, whose glove hand is as tenacious as the raptorial fore tarsus of this dryinid species.”
