B&G Equipment Company
www.bgequip.com
B&G Equipment Company’s 2008 catalog is now available. In it, pest professionals can find more information about the company’s Aerosol Delivery Unit (ADU), which works with most of the aerosols in the market today; its termite monitor, TM-1; and the firm’s ADU with wood injection gun. PCOs and distributors can request a 2008 catalog by contacting B&G directly.
Bell Laboratories
www.belllabs.com
Bell Laboratories’ powerful new mouse snap trap is the Mini-Rex Mouse Snap Trap. A smaller version of Bell’s T-Rex Rat Snap Trap, Mini-Rex’s performance in capturing mice is equal to its rat-size counterpart, the manufacturer reports. Designed with better trigger sensitivity and more powerful trap velocity, Mini-Rex also features patented interlocking teeth that capture mice with outstanding holding power. The Mini-Rex sets in one motion and the same motions provides “no-touch” disposal of the dead mouse. The trap’s built-in bait cup gives pest management professionals the option of using a mouse attractant, such as Bell’s Provoke Mouse Attractant, to entice mice to the trap. Because the cup is removable, pest management professionals can service the unset trap safely and easily. Mini-Rex is reusable and ideal for discreet placement; two Mini-Rex traps will fit in tamper-resistant Protecta Sidekick, Bell’s smaller bait station.
BrandFX Body Company
www.brandfxbody.com
BrandFX Body Company has completed its LS Service Body line. The line now covers 37- to 84-inch cab to axle chassis. LS Service Bodies combine aerodynamic design with an overall 40 percent lighter body weight than steel body lines. Consequently, pest management professionals will use less fuel and reduce the amount of emissions released into the environment, the company said.
This weight savings also will reduce wear on shocks, tires, brakes and other suspension components. Composite bodies extend a truck’s lifecycle and can be transferred to subsequent trucks. Since the composite body adds less to the load of the truck, pest professionals can carry more cargo, the company said. And switching to composite bodies often can allow PCOs to downsize to a lighter-duty, lower-priced vehicle for the same job that once required a heavier duty truck.
BrandFX LS series feature smooth, molded design unlike the sharp edges and right angles of some bodies. Also, the strong, 25-milileter gel coat finish repels minor scrapes, bumps and distortions that can blemish, dent and deform steel. Plus, the color is impregnated in the compound, so touch-ups and repainting seldom are required.
Rockwell Labs Ltd
www.rockwelllabs.com
Rockwell Labs’ 2008 IPM Insect Control Product Guide is now available. The color catalog contains specifications, labels, MSDSs and other information about Rockwell’s products. The catalog features a total of seven new products since the 2007 catalog came out, including four new products recently introduced. PCOs can obtain a copy of the catalog by contacting Rockwell Labs directly, from their distributor or from their Rockwell Labs representative.
Bayer Environmental Science
www.backedbybayer.com
Bayer Environmental Science’s Maxforce FC Magnum Roach Killer Bait Gel and Maxforce Fly Spot Bait have been registered for use in the state of Hawaii.
Maxforce FC Magnum Roach Killer Bait Gel does not require consumption by roaches to be effective, the company said. With five times the active ingredient fipronil, cockroaches no longer need to consume the bait to die; they simply need to touch it. In addition, Maxforce FC Magnum also features the Domino Effect, whereby cockroaches contact the active ingredient and live just long enough to share it with other members of the colony where they live and breed.
Maxforce Fly Spot Bait gives pest professionals the opportunity to provide superior fly control in a variety of settings that previously could not be treated with fly baits, including commercial dining rooms, outside homes and around outdoor pet areas. It also can be used in and around agricultural livestock production facilities.
Maxforce Fly Spot Bait can be sprayed or painted onto surfaces, killing flies in 60 seconds or less and providing up to six weeks of control indoors and up to 14 days when applied around the outside of residences or commercial buildings, the company reports.
Exaktime
www.exaktime.com/pocketclockGPS
Exaktime has introduced PocketClock/GPS, software that transforms a Windows Mobile PDA into a portable timeclock that uses GPS technology to record the exact location of workers as they clock in and out.
Designed for mobile work crews, PocketClock/GPS allows crews to clock in and out at literally dozens of jobsites each week. It is like having a permanent on-site timeclock at every jobsite. The automatic GPS location fix from PocketClock/GPS provides assurance that service personnel are at the correct location when they clock in and when they clock out.
In addition to accurately tracking total hours worked, individuals can select the type of work they are doing each time they clock in, allowing managers to track work by cost code. Pest management professionals in the field also can enter detailed field notes about the job that are later sent to the office.
To transfer the time and attendance information into the office computer for review and export it into the company’s accounting or payroll system, the PocketClock/GPS device is simply carried to the office and synchronized with the PC.
Bird-B-Gone
www.birdbgone.com
Bird-B-Gone introduces the Goose Chase Super Sonic. This state-of-the-art sound deterrent uses recorded goose distress calls mixed with predator calls to deter geese from outdoor areas. Different modes and sound combinations can be chosen to baffle pest geese. The unit also is weatherproof.
The Goose Chase Super Sonic is designed for golf courses, lakefront homes, parks, campuses or anywhere geese are a problem. Each unit can cover up to an acre of land, with options to add additional speakers for up to five acres of coverage.
Havahart
www.havahart.com
Havahart is expanding its Havahart Critter Ridder line by introducing an economical version of its animal repellent — a new 5-pound Critter Ridder granular shaker canister.
Launched in 2004, Critter Ridder is OMRI listed and USDA approved for organic gardening, making it well suited for PCOs involved in retail sales. It repels skunks, groundhogs, squirrels, raccoons, dogs and its formulas are approved for use indoors (granular product) as well as outdoors (liquid and granular products).
One application of Critter Ridder lasts up to 30 days. It uses a unique patented pepper-based formula, with oil of black pepper, piperine and capsaicin as the active ingredients.
Scimetrics
www.kaputproducts.com
When rodents are killed by baits, the fleas that are living off these rodents seek other warm-blooded hosts, such as pets and humans. As a result, these host-seeking fleas may then transfer diseases to these new accidental hosts, often accounting for human plague cases each year in the western United States.
According to research out of Vandenberg Air Force Base, flea numbers in burrow systems were reduced by greater than 99 percent after control of ground squirrels.
Scimetrics’ dual action bait, Kaput-D Combo Bait, not only will eliminate the ground squirrel host, but it will significantly reduce the number of fleas on the rodent and in its nests or burrows, the company reports.
Combo Bait contains a systemic insecticide that once ingested by the ground squirrel, enters the rodent’s blood system. Fleas feeding on these rodents consume the low-dose chemical and die as the rodent host slowly expires.
Combo Bait has been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency and the state of California.
Nixalite
www.nixalite.com/k-netbirdnetting.aspx
Nixalite of America now offers K-Net High Tensile Bird Netting in stone color as well as black. Nixalite’s K-Net High Tensile Bird Netting offers superior strength, quality and value, according to the company. Designed for architectural and structural applications, K-Net is now even stronger and lighter, the manufacturer reports. High strength and seamless construction allow K-Net to be installed by pest management professionals in a variety of sites including airplane hangars, churches, factories, building facades, awnings and houses.
