Bayer Environmental Science has announced that Peter Farno is the new director of marketing for the Professional Pest Management Business USA. Farno will lead the marketing team in re-launching the Premise brand and strengthening Bayer’s leadership position in the general insect control market. Farno joins Bayer’s Professional Pest Management team from the company’s Turf & Ornamental business, where he was marketing manager — green industry. Farno is the former Fungicide Business Manager for Aventis Environmental Science.

In other news at Bayer, the company announced that Chuck Cole will fill the role of marketing manager — termiticides. Cole will manage strategy and tactics for the Premise product line.

Dow AgroSciences has assigned Randy Smith to field research biologist for turf and ornamental products.

In other news at Dow AgroSciences, the company announced the appointment of Tom Linnen as senior sales specialist for the Mid-America Specialties Group, which includes turf and ornamental accounts in Kentucky, Eastern Indiana, Western Ohio and Michigan.

As a result of the integration of Termidor termiticide-insecticide into its pest control business, BASF has expanded its sales team to offer enhanced customer service supporting its Professional Pest Control product portfolio. Edward Lamb, who was named national accounts manager for the group, will negotiate and manage transactions with key BASF national-based customers.

Overseeing the sales representative activity is National Sales Manager Dave Buzzelli, who brings to the BASF Professional Pest Control group 25 years of industry experience, including the launch of Termidor.

Ray Finke has been named the new director of sales at Liphatech. He will oversee the company’s North American sales force and help promote closer working relationships with its distribution network in the professional pest control market.

Atlantic Paste & Glue has named Frank Betancourt as its new Northeast sales manager. Betancourt has experience with pest management and sanitation in USDA- and FDA-inspected facilities.

Members of the Maryland State Pest Control Association elected new officers to serve for the next two years. Jeff Maslan, Western Pest Management, was elected to succeed Dr. Richard Kramer as president. Kramer, of Takoma Park-based American Pest Management, remains on the board as the ex-officio president. Jerry Bukovsky, Terminix, was elected as executive vice president and Marilyn Downey was re-elected treasurer. The board members elected were William Freeman, Imperial Pest Control and Glenn Krout, University of Maryland, Baltimore.
