Clark Lovelady joined Syngenta Crop Protection as a research scientist working out of the com-pany’s Biological Research & Development Center in Vero Beach, Fla. His responsibilities include designing and initiating research and development projects to support the Professional Pest Management Business and coordinating external (contract) research projects.

RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment) elected officers and welcomed new board members during its 13th annual meeting held recently in Naples, Fla.

Officers elected by the RISE governing board are: Elin Miller, Dow AgroSciences, chairman; Dan Unteidt, McLaughlin Gormley King Company, vice chairman; William J. Burke, The Scotts Company, treasurer; and Laurie Treu, Uniroyal Chemical Company, past chairman.

Also at the meeting, Jeffrey Dobslaw, Monsanto, and Andy Symons, Whitmire Micro-Gen Research Laboratories, were elected to three-year terms on the RISE Governing Board.

Other board members continuing their terms are Ted Baker, Nufarm Americas Inc.; Terry Boehm, United Horticultural Supply; William Culpepper, SePRO Corporation; Terry Higgins, Olympic Horticultural Supply; Ulrich Trogele, Bayer Environmental Science USA LP; and Wayne Winner, Valent USA Corporation. Allen James, RISE president, serves as secretary on the board.

Three new officers were formally installed to the North Carolina Pest Control Association Board of Directors. The following were elected to serve a one-year term: President Walt Cooper, Cooper Pest Control; Vice President Mark Brown, Hendersonville Pest Control; and Secretary/Treasurer Duane Rose, Orkin Pest Control. The past president, Bryan Heath, Heath Pest Control, will remain on the board for a one-year term.

W. Hugh Wilson of W.H. Wilson Termite & Pest Services; R.B. Goforth of Arrow Exterminators of Fayetteville; and Doug Whitley of Whitco Inc. were elected to serve as regional vice presidents.

Re-elected to a one-year term as regional vice presidents were the following officers: Mack Langdon, Smith Exterminating Co. Inc.; Brian Windham, Killo Exterminating; Robert Dillingham of May Exterminating; David Spillman of Go-Forth Services; and Fred Canady, Canady & Son Exterminating. Also elected to serve a one-year term as the allied/associate member representative was Robert Dillingham of Forshaw Distribution.

The Michigan Pest Control Association recently held elections and the results are as follows: Bill Welsh, Rose Exterminator Co., elected president; Bob England, Eradico Services Inc., elected vice president; Zedora Miller, Lewis-Miller Exterminating, elected secretary/treasurer; three-year director, Joe Carnegie, Unlimited Pest Control; two-year director John Smitter, Smitter Pest Control; one-year director, Cam Renn, Terminix International; and one-year allied member seat, Johanna Harding, Residex Corp.

Continuing service for the Michigan Pest Control Association Board are: Director Dale Hodgson, University of Michigan; Director Jeff Spencer, Griffin Pest Control; and John Ostlund, life member/immediate past president.
