[Focus On Training] Loss Control Training Available

In a new service brought to the pest management market by B. & D.A. Weisburger Insurance and accessible at PCTOnline, PCOs can now limit their losses and run their businesses more effectively via SafetyStrategy, a low-cost, Web-based training program. The site is accessible at www.pctonline.com and at www.weisburger.com.

Michael Weisburger, president of B. & D.A. Weisburger, said his company pursued the addition of an online loss control training program to provide customers with a better and more timely loss control service. In the past, Weisburger’s 19-point safety program was systematically provided to its customers.

“It is prohibitively expensive to provide on-site loss control services to all of our 4,000 accounts,” Weisburger said. “We do on-site loss control surveys on some accounts, but for years we’ve been looking for a program that would enable us to provide a resource to PCOs at a very inexpensive price. With the number of people using the Internet growing, we see it as an extremely economical way to get this information to people who want to reduce their chances of losses and actual losses.”

After reviewing a number of options, Weisburger partnered with Intelligent Solutions, developer of the SafetyStrategy program. The SafetyStrategy program includes general, safe practice guidelines that have universal applications (e.g., equipment repair and maintenance) and also can be customized. Using materials prepared by its technical department, Weisburger Insurance and Intelligent Solutions developed a SafetyStrategy program specifically tailored to the pest management industry.

YOUR PROGRAM. Pest control companies who sign up for the Weisburger Insurance Online Loss Control Program can decide which materials they want distributed to which group(s) and the frequency in which they want the materials distributed.

“For example, you can set up a different set of topics for those who work in the field than for those who work in the office,” said Don Reynolds, president of Intelligent Solutions. “PCOs may want the field people trained every month but office people do it bi-monthly. PCOs have control over how they structure their training and what they want to emphasize.”

The program can be set up by PCOs so that every month each department (or each department head) will receive different training materials.

PCOs save money by subscribing to the Weisburger Insurance Online Loss Control Program because it replaces the need to hire an outside safety training specialist to provide training, Weisburger said.
