PyGanic Botanical Dust
Appeals to Sensitive Clients

Pest management professionals seeking broad spectrum control and quick insect kill — combined with the appeal of a botanical dust product for sensitive clients — now have new PyGanic Dust from MGK, the company reports.

“This 1 percent pyrethrin botanical insecticide delivers fast kill and flushing indoors as a spot or crack and crevice treatment — in food and non-food areas,” says Ian Thorburn, market manager, MGK, Minneapolis, Minn. “PyGanic Dust handles the toughest indoor and outdoor pests — from bed bugs to fleas, ticks, ants, German cockroaches — more than 230 crawling and flying insects. And it can be applied with confidence in food and animal areas, using the convenient dusting bottle or other hand-held dusting devices.”

Use sites include homes, hotels, hospitals, apartments, office buildings, restaurants, food and feed areas, and in livestock buildings and premises. To learn more about PyGanic Dust, visit www.mgkpro.com.

Bora-care gets green light
Nisus Corp.’s Bora-Care Termiticide, Insecticide and Fungicide has been designated as a “Green-Approved Product” for new construction termite prevention by the National Green Building Certification program of the National Association of Home Builders. The company received Certification No. 00027 from the NAHB Research Center and is now listed on the Web site (http://greenapprovedproducts.com) as a Green-Approved Product under NAHB Practice No. 602.8. Builders can earn up to six points for varying types of termite treatments with the product.

Bora-Care is a borate-based EPA-registered termiticide that is applied directly to wood, concrete and foundation penetrations during new construction to help eliminate wood as a food source and create a continuous barrier, the company says. The product’s formula is designed to allow its active ingredient to penetrate into wood and deliver long-term residual protection, according to the manufacturer. Treated wood is also protected against carpenter ants, wood destroying beetles and decay fungi, Nisus reports.

Terminix Launches EcoControl Program
for Commercial
Clients

Terminix announced in June it launched its eco-friendly service for commercial customers, a pest management system designed to nurture a more sustainable environment, the company reports. The Terminix Commercial EcoControl program introduces solutions to protect businesses from pests that allow these partners to be more environmentally responsible, Terminix says.

Terminix Commercial EcoControl takes its Integrated Pest Management approach to another level by focusing on pests before they become a problem, according to Terminix.

Lonnie Anderson, manager of quality assurance for Terminix, said the system is a much more thoughtful approach to pest control, thus creating the need for even more precise communications between the company and its customers. “Before, routine application was ‘king’,” said Anderson. “But with EcoControl, the initial question phase drives our approach — What pest is present? Where is the source of the infestation? What contributing conditions are present?”

In addition to focusing on inspection, monitoring and correction of pest-conducive situations, Terminix EcoControl also utilizes natural treatment substances like plant essential oils and alternate methods like trapping. Other low-impact products that are required under the EcoControl system include baits and Insect Growth Regulators.

The program meets NPMA QualityPro Green requirements, and is compliant with the IPM requirements of the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system.

“We couldn’t be more excited about this launch,” said Tom Brackett, president and chief operating officer of Terminix. “EcoControl meets a growing market demand and is the right thing to do for our commercial clients. They asked for it, and we delivered once again.”

MotherEarth Product Line Expands
BASF has added an Exempt Contact Insecticide to its MotherEarth line of products. MotherEarth Exempt Contact Insecticide is a fast-acting aerosol for quick kill of crawling and flying insects. The product, formulated with a blend of plant essential oils, features a pleasant botanical scent and is ideal for crack and crevice and spot treatments, according to the manufacturer.

The two active ingredients in the new contact insecticide include geraniol and lemongrass oils. Both are on the EPA 25(b) list of acceptable active ingredients, and products made with them are classified as “Exempt” from EPA registration requirements when combined with specific inerts.

MotherEarth Exempt Contact Insecticide is a synergistic blend of these two essential oils in combination with other ingredients. This proprietary blend from BASF is packaged in an easy-to-use aerosol formulation. It can be used in a variety of sensitive locations including apartments, assisted living facilities, commercial buildings, day-care centers, hospitals and government buildings. The product also can be used in non-food/non-feed areas of bakeries, restaurants, supermarkets and food-processing facilities.
