Syngenta Professional Products
www.optigardsample.com

Optigard Ant Gel Bait by Syngenta has received registration in California and New York State. The ant gel bait, which received EPA registration in late May, is now available for use in all 50 states.

The active ingredient, thiamethoxam, is a non-repellant chemistry that controls a broad spectrum of ants by ingestion and transfer of the bait, targeting the entire colony, not just the workers, the company said.

The new gel formulation is clear and non-staining, with low odor. Optigard Ant Gel Bait provides a longer window of palatability, so as it ages, ants will continue to feed on the bait without any loss of attraction for a period of at least two weeks.

Whitmire Micro-Gen
www.wmmg.com

Whitmire Micro-Gen has a new termite monitoring product called the Reveal Termite Monitoring System. Reveal offers a PCO's customer peace-of-mind by installing premium termite monitoring stations that can be checked on routine pest control visits to notify the professional and homeowner if termites are present on the property.

Reveal TMS features a station top that is similar to the Advance Termite Bait System, but with a smaller, 2-inch housing with only wooden monitors in the units. The stations are designed to be placed around homes, typically about six to 10 monitors per structure. The monitors are designed only to reveal the presence of termites; there is no bait tube or treatment component. If termites are found within a Reveal TMS monitor, the technician has the option of educating the homeowner on the occurrence and upselling the homeowner to a protection level of service that would include either a bait system installation or liquid termiticide treatment.

The 2-inch housing makes installation easy. The Quik-Lock cap is easily opened with Whitmire Micro-Gen’s Spider Station Access Tool, and the station head appeals to homeowners because it is unobtrusive and looks like a sprinkler head. Reveal TMS offers superior wood-to-soil contact, which helps deliver quick termite hits, the company reports.

Bayer Environmental Science
www.BackedbyBayer.com

Maxforce FC Fire Ant Bait, which features a proven bait matrix and the active ingredient fipronil for long-term control of fire ants, is now available. The attractant — made of corn grit and soybean oil — is a powerful draw for fire ants, the company said. The bait features a low dose of fipronil. Labeled for broadcast and mound treatments, Maxforce FC Fire Ant Bait can be applied to home lawns, golf courses, sod farms, commercial and recreational turf, and landscape beds, the company said.

And because the bait features the exclusive Domino Effect, a delayed action kill whereby fire ants share the active ingredient throughout the colony, Maxforce FC Fire Ant Bait can also be used to target mounds in hard-to-reach areas, such as under sidewalks and driveways.

Maxforce FC Fire Ant Bait comes in two package sizes: 2-pound plastic jugs and a 10-pound re-sealable bag. The granules can be broadcast at a rate of 1.5 to 5 pounds per acre or applied as a mound treatment at a rate of 2 to 5 tablespoons per mound.

Mattress Safe
www.mattresssafe.com

Mattress Safe has achieved accreditation as a pest management product. A “bite test” and a “penetration and escape test” were performed on Mattress Safe’s “Ultimate” Zippered Encasement by a certified entomologist to determine whether bed bugs can actively feed through the fabric of the encasement and to discover whether the mattress encasement can be used as part of a bed bug exclusion or inclusion process.

The conclusions of these tests were that bed bugs cannot bite through nor penetrate the fabric or design of the encasement, thus proving Mattress Safe’s Ultimate Zippered Encasement’s ability to prevent the infestation of bed bugs in mattresses and box spring, the company said.

ServiceAccess
www.serviceaccess.com

ServiceAccess introduces ProShield 5000, a patented, EPA-registered concentrate, and the only product with USDA acceptance for food contact surfaces, the company said. The concentrate has been found to be effective against a wide array of microbes, including Staphylococcus Aureus, E. coli, various Salmonella strains, black mold, athlete’s foot and influenza A, as well as a host of others. As an EPA-registered antimicrobial, it must be applied by a licensed pest management professional, according to ServiceAccess. One end of the chemical’s molecule creates a strong bond with a multitude of surfaces, forming a highly durable protective coating. The other end of the molecule forms a microscopic bed of molecular spikes, which puncture microbes.

J.F. Oakes
www.jfoakes.com

J.F.Oakes has announced findings of an independent study designed to prove the effectiveness of XLure Multi-Species Beetle Floor Traps in attracting and capturing Tribolium (flour beetles). In the findings of the study, XLure Multi-Species Beetle Traps had a mean catch efficacy of more than 80 percent of the population of Tribolium in the test area after 24 hours, the company said. Additionally, the study confirmed the outside slope of the trap was not too steep for Tribolium to climb. Once inside the trap, Tribolium were unable to escape, the company said.

XLure Multi-Species Beetle Floor Traps contain both pheromones and a special food attractant. Pheromones that attract Tribolium (red and confused flour beetles), Lasioderma serricorne (cigarette beetles) and Trogoderma (warehouse and Khapra beetles) are loaded in each trap.

The special food attractant lures all other beetles, weevils and larvae, including Stegobium paniceum (drug store beetles), Oryzaephilus mercator (merchant grain beetles), Oryzaephilus surinamensis (sawtoothed grain beetles), Sitophilus granaries (grain weevils), Sitophilus oryzae (rice weevils), Sitophilus zeamais (maize weevils) and Rhyzopertha dominica (lesser grain borers).

BidDay Online Real Estate Auctions
www.BidDay.com

BidDay.com is an online auction company selling real estate-owned (REO) bank properties. Prior to sale, each home is required to have a home and termite inspection. After registering at BidDay’s Web site, inspectors can select up to five inspection territories (each with a radius of up to 100 miles). When properties are available in a territory, BidDay’s system automatically e-mails inspectors, who can then quickly download orders to their computer, inspect the property and upload the report file using BidDay Preferred Inspection Software.

BidDay will pay inspectors directly via electronic payments, and will provide a master waiver to satisfy insurance requirements. Properties have lock box access and are vacant (with the utilities turned on), and will be easy to work into inspectors’ schedules, the company said.

Nixalite
www.nixalite.com

Nixalite offers a non-toxic solution to the problem of moles: Mole Out mole repellent granules. Nixalite’s Mole Out repels and inhibits the formation of mole tunnels and holes. Mole Out contains all-natural and biodegradable ingredients. Unaffected by rain, an application can remain effective for up to three months when applied as directed, the company said. Use Mole Out to repel moles from lawns, gardens, golf courses, nurseries, parks, athletic fields, in flowerbeds, around playgrounds and other recreational turf areas.

Mole Out uses castor oil combined with fuller’s earth to coat the moles’ food source, causing stomach disruption and, ultimately, change the moles’ feeding behavior. The moles must associate the stomach disruptions with food items in the treated areas. It can take up to three weeks for Mole Out to reach maximum effectiveness, the company said.

KABA
www.kabatape.com
KABA introduces an ultra-thin, two-wire bird tape. The tape is an achievement in clarity, flexibility and system effectiveness, the company said. The tape is simple to install; no electrical experience is required. One wire is positive and the other is negative. Well-insulated jumper wire connects the pieces of tape together. UL-listed solar or 110-volt AC power controllers energize the systems.

The tape has a peel-and-stick adhesive bottom, a single-sleeve connector system, splice-free corners, acrylic film top, highly conductive and corrosion-resistant aluminum and UV-stable adhesive, the company said. The tape conforms to clay tile roofs, box letter signs, pipes and standing seam roofs. No roof penetrations are needed to secure the tape. It’s great for all ledges and any bird species, the company said. The clear tape insures a perfect color and pattern match wherever it’s placed, the company said.
