Syngenta Professional Products
www.securechoice.us
Syngenta Professional Products has introduced Optigard Ant Gel Bait. This ready-to-use formulation provides precision control and results in complete colony elimination, the company says.
Optigard Ant Gel Bait offers control of a broad spectrum of ants, including Argentine, carpenter, ghost and other pest ant species, by ingestion and transfer of the bait, which targets the colony. The new gel formulation is clear and non-staining, with low odor. It maintains its gel integrity at higher-than-normal temperatures and won’t run, the company says. Optigard Ant Gel Bait uses non-repellent thiamethoxam, which controls the colony via transfer and regurgitation. The bait also provides a longer window of palatability, so as it ages ants will continue to feed on the bait without any loss of attraction, the company says.
Optigard Ant Gel will not contaminate other control methods, and can be used as part of an Integrated Pest Management program.

From PestWest USA comes an instrument for measuring the amount of UVA output of lamps used in insect light traps. According to PestWest USA, this time of year pest management professionals should be thinking about checking the UV light output from the lamps in all types of flying insect management systems. The UV-A meter is an easy-to-use monitor that provides an immediate indication of the condition of the lamps, the company reports.
The UVA meter can be used in pre-installation surveys to locate the best position and location for new systems. The cell phone-sized instrument displays UVA output as a series of moving LEDs that change color according to the UV output of the lamps. This allows quick and accurate measurements at a glance, the company says.
