Bor-Ram WP, a 98 percent disodium octaborate tetrahydrate wettable powder, is now available from the Sostram Corporation.
The new wettable powder borate supports green initiatives, while economically preventing and controlling drywood, dampwood and subterranean termites, carpenter ants, wood-boring beetles and decay fungi, the company said. Bor-Ram WP can be applied indoors or outdoors as a spray, foam or dust to protect wood and other labeled materials. It is an ideal choice for sensitive accounts and those preferring “Earth-friendly” solutions, Sostram says.
As a dust, Bor-Ram WP is ideal for filling cracks, crevices and voids in attics and other spaces, the company said. Applied as a spray or foam, Bor-Ram WP creates a protective barrier against future infestations. The product is available in a 1½-pound container or 25-pound pail.
Nelson Paint Company
www.nelsontechinc.com
The Nelson Paint Company introduces Deter-it HEAT balls, an animal deterrent made for slingshots and paintball guns. Deter-it HEAT balls, when broken, release a 1.5 million Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) repellent into an aerosol cloud, which causes irritation to the mucous membranes of animals. The clear, biodegradable, non-toxic liquid delivers an unpleasant experience without penetration or serious injury to nuisance or threatening animals, the company said.
Deter-it HEAT is an advancement on the original Deter-it balls, which have a shell design that maximizes the kinetic energy delivered to negatively reinforce behavior in people or the continued presence of unwanted animals without penetration or serious injury, the company said. These products can be used in close proximity to the general public due to their low-noise delivery system.

Spectronics
www.spectroline.com
Spectronics Corporation has introduced the B-260, a powerful, battery-operated, long-wave UV lamp used to inspect rodent contamination on grains, feed, seeds and other crops used for human and animal consumption.
To look for signs of rodent activity, shine the lightweight, portable B-260 UV lamp on the area to be inspected to detect the appearance of rodent hair and urine. Their hair fluoresces blue-white and urine fluoresces blue-white to yellow-white. Since rodents usually urinate while in motion, the droplet pattern is detectable by its bright glow under the ultraviolet light.
This unit is equipped with a six-volt rechargeable battery, an AC charger and a charging cord. Its contoured carrying handle provides easy reach to the power switch and makes it easy to carry from place to place, the company said. Made of a durable, high-impact plastic housing, the lamp features a stainless-steel tube guard that protects against accidental breakage.
Bird-B-Gone
www.birdbgone.com
Bird-B-Gone Mist is a fogging system that releases a grape-scented mist into the air to deter pest birds from large open spaces. The unit distributes methyl anthranilate, a grape extract proven to be effective in repelling pest birds. Birds do not like the scent of the extract and will take flight from the area being treated, the company said. Bird-B-Gone Mist can be used in places that are generally hard to treat, such as garages, factories, airline hangars, courtyards, landfills, parking lots or any open spaces where birds are a problem.
The Bird-B-Gone Mist is the only fogging unit with an LCD touch screen for programming. From the control unit, users can attach up to 32 misters, controlling each one individually. Spray units can be set to go off simultaneously or at alternating times. The control panel will keep track of liquid levels, and will notify users when to refill the units. Bird-B-Gone Mist can be programmed to fit any schedule, and can be operated from a distance.
The nozzle design on the unit provides a verifiable five-micron particle size, meaning this system is the first fogging unit not to leave a residue behind, the company said. The nozzles are adjustable, letting you direct the mist toward problem areas.
International Mosquito Control
www.internationalmosquitocontrol.com
The ABCs of Effective Mosquito Control, published by International Mosquito Control, explains in easy-to-understand, everyday terms, the different methods that can be used to control mosquitoes and how to apply them.
PCOs can provide the booklet to municipal officials, homeowners and managers of golf courses, campgrounds and other businesses. The booklet covers a broad range of subjects pertinent to controlling mosquitoes. The methods outlined have been approved by the Mosquito Control Research Association, the company said.
The book is advertising-free, and acts as a primer for those who may be planning or just starting a mosquito control program.
Bayer Environmental Science
www.BackedbyBayer.com
DeltaGard G insecticide from Bayer Environmental Science delivers the strength of DeltaGard-brand deltamethrin in a new, water-dispersible carrier for residual control of a wide variety of crawling pests, including ants, spiders, ticks and cockroaches, the company said.
The active ingredient in DeltaGard G, deltamethrin, is a third-generation pyrethroid in a single, pure isomer, which means PCOs can acheive control at a lower application rate, the company said. The carrier is less dusty and lighter in color than the previous formulation, but provides enough contrast for PCOs to monitor the treatment for even coverage and less waste, the company said.
DeltaGard G can be spread with a hand-held or walk-behind spreader and has virtually no dust or odor. The granules penetrate thick ground cover, such as mulch or thatch. When exposed to moisture, the carrier quickly breaks apart, releasing the active ingredient without staining surfaces or damaging plants.
The new formulation can be applied as a broadcast treatment, perimeter treatment, spot treatment and on interior plantscapes. Perimeter treatments require two to three pounds of granule per 1,000 square feet when applied as a five- to 10-foot band around structures. One 10-pound bag can treat up to 5,000 square feet, the company said.
J.T. Eaton
www.jteaton.com
J.T. Eaton has introduced J.T. Eaton Kills BedBugs and Crawling Insects powder. Made from diatomaceous earth (DE), there is no pyrethrin added. Bed bugs and other crawling insects crawl through the powder, which attaches to their bodies and removes their moisture, the company said. This causes them to dry up and die. There is no chemical reaction, so the insect doesn’t have to ingest the product for it to work, and it cannot become resistant.
The new formulation, available in four- and 10-pound containers as well as seven-ounce puffer bottles, can be dusted into cracks and crevices that bed bugs tend to frequent, including mattress seams, headboard joints, electrical outlets and picture frames.
FMC Professional Solutions
www.fmcprosolutions.com
For those pest management professionals offering lawn care services, FMC offers its Dismiss turf herbicide, which has recently received registration from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Dismiss starts working immediately after application, providing visible results in just a couple of days, the company said. Also, Dismiss can be absorbed by nutsedge tubers, preventing new sedge growth and giving turf professionals the long residual control they need to keep their lawn care customers happy and to keep golf courses in pristine playing condition.
Coxreels
www.coxreels.com
Coxreels has released new reel models in the heavy duty Truck Mount Series. The new models have an increased capacity of 75 feet of ¾-inch I.D. hose and 50 feet of 1-inch I.D. hose. These new reels accompany the original heavy duty T-Series reels, built for the toughest work conditions. Coxreels’ team of engineers responded to industry needs by adding to these reels a new dual-bearing axle support system, creating low friction, extraction and retraction, allowing the reels to resist wear in any abusive environment, the company said. All reels in the T-Series are spring-motor operated and come standard equipped with Coxreels’ Super-Hub and triple axle support with full frame for maximum strength and rigidity. All T-Series handling ¾- to one-inch hose now will be equipped with stainless steel rollers, increasing durability in these extreme applications. The reels come in Coxreels’ signature high-luster blue CPC powder coat finish.
Nixalite
www.nixalite.com
The Bird Buffer is a programmable, electronic aerosol generator that repels flying birds — indoors and outdoors — by producing a nearly invisible repellent haze. Birds that fly through the haze soon associate the location with the repellent’s effect and leave the area for good. Bird Buffers are quiet, safe and extremely efficient, using very little repellent to cover large open areas. Included timers allow for unattended operation at times of peak bird activity, the company said.
Bird Buffer is a machine that converts liquid Fog Force, a harmless grape food flavoring, into tiny nano-particles which, when blown into the air at 90 mph, create an invisible haze that stays suspended in the air for about six hours, the company said. When used indoors, the haze does not damage paint, and the scent is a faint, grape aroma.
Liphatech
www.liphatech.com
FirstStrike is a 10-gram pouch that uses the active ingredient difethialone for application in bait stations. Pest control operators can use the exact amount necessary — more for heavy infestations, less for maintenance.
FirstStrike does not incorporate wax, so palatability is maximized, the company said. Taste is not affected by extreme heat or cold, and the pouch is not subject to crumbling or translocation. Rodent variety can be identified by the feeding pattern on the pouch as well as dye from the bait that appears in droppings.
Results from a FirstStrike application begin showing in as little as four to five days after placement, with rapid rodent depopulation after five to 11 days, the company said.
