The EPA-approved label represents a significant change because it eliminates the 60 percent wooden base-plate requirement for primary subterranean termite pretreatment in residential and commercial construction. Accepted in most states, the new use pattern is still pending in Florida, the company said.

The treatment pattern on the revised BOR-RAM label adequately accommodates structures with any combination of wooden base-plate walls and non-cellulosic wall construction. This means pest management professionals now can perform termite pretreatments on structures not previously treatable with borates, the company said.

Optigard Flex, introduced nationally in 2008, is a non-repellent, general pest product that allows indoor and outdoor application as a spray, foam or mist, with no limitations on application timing, the company said. It can be applied both indoors and outdoors.

Optigard Flex is labeled for a broad spectrum of ants and other nuisance arthropod pests including cockroaches. It uses the same active ingredient, thiamethoxam, as Optigard Ant Gel Bait.
