Rockwell Labs Ltd has announced that InVade Bio Drain and InVade Bio Cleaner recently have been granted approval by NSF for use in food areas for non-food contact surfaces. While these products have been used for many years in food areas to mitigate the conditions that contribute to fly and roach infestations, they have now been evaluated and approved by NSF, according to Rockwell Labs Ltd. NSF is a voluntary certification organization that in part replaced the former USDA certification process for products used in food-production facilities. This registration will be beneficial to PCOs who service accounts specifying that only NSF-approved products may be used, the manufacturer reports.

The BASF Pest Control Solutions product portfolio now includes Prescription Treatment brand Alpine ant and termite foam, Prescription Treatment Alpine dust insecticide and Prescription Treatment Alpine pressurized insecticide. The new, non-repellent Alpine line of products features dinotefuran, which has been granted Reduced Risk status for public health use by the Environmental Protection Agency. With this status, Alpine products provide PCOs three new tools to serve customers who are looking for Reduced Risk treatment options, the manufacturer reports.

Alpine ant and termite foam is a ready-to-use foam formulation for treating termites, ants, and overwintering pests – and it can be used in and around a variety of residential and commercial settings, including homes, hotels, hospitals, offices and non-food areas of restaurants. Alpine dust insecticide provides indoor and outdoor control of more than 50 pests including ants, bed bugs and stinging insects.

Alpine pressurized insecticide is a non-repellent aerosol that provides residual control for a broad spectrum of crawling and flying insects, including ants, roaches and bed bugs. It can be applied in both outdoor and indoor settings in a variety of residential, industrial and commercial (non-food handling areas) settings.

Exponent Insecticide Synergist product from MGK now comes in pint bottles. Exponent, an emulsifiable concentrate synergist, is uniquely formulated to tank mix with pyrethroids, carbamates, abamectin insecticides and acaricides to improve the knockdown and kill rate of the insecticide, the company says. While it has no insecticidal properties of its own, it works by stopping enzyme breakdown of the insecticide’s active ingredient — which allows more active ingredient to reach target insects to improve the level of control and speed of kill, MGK reports. Exponent has been shown to overcome insecticide resistance in many insect species such as chinch bugs, flies, bed bugs and mosquito populations, according to the manufacturer.

Exponent works by binding to an insect’s enzyme esterases to inhibit protective properties that detoxify insecticides. This reduces the insect’s natural ability to break down the insecticide’s active ingredient, which increases insect susceptibility to insecticides. It can be used in a tank mix with insecticides labeled for use in indoor food and non-food areas, in general outdoor premise treatment, in outdoor ornamental and lawn sprays and in pet premise treatments, the company says. Along with the new pint-size bottle, the product continues to be sold in quart and gallon containers as well.
