[NPMA Convention] Destination Dallas

The National Pest Management Association hosts the industry's largest tradeshow next month in Dallas, Texas.

Once a year, the entire pest management industry comes together for the NPMA annual convention and exposition: PestWorld (formerly Pest Management). PestWorld 2003 will be held Oct. 22-25 Dallas, Texas, at the Wyndham Anatole Resort.

PestWorld 2003 is a time for industry professionals to get connected with industry peers from around the world, learn about the latest technical and management training and meet with the industry’s leading companies.

The 2003 convention will include the largest number of pest management-related exhibitors ever assembled under one roof. Don’t miss this opportunity to visit with exhibitors who are available to help you find ways to improve your company’s efficiency, save costs and develop strategies to take your company to the next level.

HITTING THE BOOKS. The educational sessions at PestWorld are cutting-edge and feature industry-renowned speakers. This year there will be several tracks, focusing on business management, commercial, fumigation, general household pests, lawn care, public health, wildlife and wood-destroying organisms. Each track will offer several sessions with new research, technical training, and hands-on learning. The tracks allow attendees to focus on one particular area, or learn the latest information in a variety of areas.

In addition to the one-hour education sessions, the two-hour learning centers will return, with in-depth training sessions on computers, dealing with the media, trust in the workplace, finance, a legal learning center and science.

SPEAKERS AND LEADERS. NPMA has secured a wide variety of speakers for this year’s PestWorld. The keynote speakers at PestWorld 2003 will continue the NPMA tradition of presenting nationally recognized speakers with real-world stories and advice.

Actor/comedian Darrell Hammond, a regular on Saturday Night Live for the past six years, will perform his impressions of Bill Clinton, Dan Rather, Jay Leno and Ted Koppel. Sponsored by Bayer Environmental Science, this humorous look at the world and politics will open the event.

Astronaut Jerry Linegar will speak to attendees about his experience on the Russian space station Mir. Linegar, whose presentation is sponsored by Dow AgroSciences, was the only American crewmember on the space station for five hair-raising months. He survived low oxygen and computer failure, and he fought the worst fire to ever occur in space.

Frank Abagnale wrote Catch Me If You Can, which inspired a recent motion picture. Abagnale, whose talk is sponsored by FMC, tells an inspiring story about what life is really about. He was one of the world’s most famous con men, cashing $2.5 million in fraudulent checks before being caught. After serving time in prison, he has become an expert authority on the subjects of forgery, embezzlement and secure documents.
