Sugar snakes are a rigid, hard, cellulose polymer formed by microbes feeding on the abundance of carbohydrates (sugar) from the overflow of soft drinks. Also, sugar snakes often attract common pests such as small flies and ants. DrainGel IBD is a bacterial and enzymatic formulation specifically designed to remove and prevent the build-up of sugar snakes. The DrainGel IBD formula rapidly breaks down cellulosic polymers, such as sugar snakes and other organic materials, that clog the drain system. The breakdown and degradation of sugar snakes can take place in as little as 24 hours.

BirdShield is a food-grade, biodegradable bird repellent that reduces bird nesting and roosting on structures, roofs, interior or exterior walls, siding, statues, bridges, beams, boat docks and marinas. It can even be sprayed directly on nests, Bird-X reports. Liquid BirdShield dries, leaving a residue with a "grape-like" odor. The odor irritates birds’ trigeminal system, similar to our sense of smell, yet it is environmentally friendly and harmless. It is effective against sparrows, starlings, pigeons, barn swallows, gulls, water birds, woodpeckers, predator birds and more, according to the company.

BirdShield was developed and tested with assistance from a major university and USDA. The active ingredient, methyl anthranilate (MA), is a constituent of Concord grapes. The FDA lists the a.i. as FDA Generally Recognized As Safe and EPA lists it as a reduced risk ingredient, Bird-X says.

Rockwell Labs has announced new and improved formulations and packaging for two products — InTice Granular Bait and InTice Select Ant Granules. The new formulation for InTice Granular Bait includes additional attractants. InTice Granular Bait is a broad spectrum, weatherable bait labeled for a wide range of pests including ants, roaches, crickets and silverfish. The new formula is still available in coarse and fine granule sizes but the coarse granule now comes in new 5-pound EZ ZIP bags and 40-pound cartons, with free shaker jars included. The new formula for InTice Select Ant Granules now contains a large amount of premium invertebrate protein and a higher amount of sweet. The formulation also contains a decreased amount of oil to help ensure control of carpenter ants.

Q Pest Products introduces the "B" Duster to the pest control industry. This is a heavy-duty portable power duster. The unit consists of a locking extension pole that connects to a portable, rechargeable air compressor that is carried by pest management professionals so they are mobile and not tethered to a stationary unit. The dust reservoir is located at the delivery end of the system, so pest management professionals do not have hoses or poles full of product when the treatment is complete. The reservoir is constructed of heavy-duty PVC with graduation marks so PCOs know how much product is used. The unit is also operable separate from the extension pole for conventional dusting procedures, i.e., under siding, voids, etc.
