1. Does Aprehend work with a ‘low-prep’ protocol?
Yes, Aprehend fits perfectly with a low-prep protocol. Bed bugs must take a blood meal between every life stage, so we know that they will emerge from their harborages however inaccessible they may be. Aprehend barriers are applied between the harborage and the bloodmeal where we know bed bugs will walk. Bed bugs easily pickup spores from the treated surface and take them back to their harborage, infecting others in the colony. There is no need to empty drawers and closets for access to hidden harborages; the bed bugs do the work for us.
2. Will less prep result in longer service times for me and my techs?
No! It takes less time to apply strategic Aprehend barriers than it does to conduct extensive application of insecticides inside drawers and closets. Aprehend is applied to more easily accessible places, primarily around beds, recliners and couches where people spend most of their time. In heavy infestations, additional barriers should be applied around suspected harborage sites such as night stands, dressers, outlets and baseboards.
3. How does Aprehend perform in hoarding situations?
Aprehend shines even in the worst situations, despite level of clutter. All bed bugs must come out to feed and in doing so, will be exposed to Aprehend barriers, they then carry the spores deep into hidden harborages to infect others.
4. What do you recommend for “quick knockdown?”
Vacuum! Vacuuming clusters of visible bed bugs before your treatment will give you the fastest and most reliable knockdown of the population. Both Aprehend and traditional chemicals will kill on direct contact, but no chemical can compete with the efficacy and speed of a vacuum.
5. How many applications are needed to achieve eradication?
With up to three months residual efficacy, there is no need for the traditional one- or two-week follow-up application with Aprehend.
We recommend a 30-day follow-up inspection to verify eradication. In most cases, a second application is not needed.
