5 Questions with Dr. Nina Jenkins

Dr. Nina Jenkins, ConidioTec Co-founder and Chief Technical Officer
1. Is Aprehend for active infestation or preventative situations?

Both! Aprehend brings problem properties to long-term resolution. It treats both active infestations and its up to three-month residual prevents the establishment of new ones. It requires a thoughtful approach, but we’ve heard remarkable success stories using Aprehend to eliminate active infestations and maintain control. We have proactive protocols on our website that discuss these effective strategies.

2. Do you recommend adding anything to the Aprehend proactive protocol?

Mattress encasements are always a good idea. Also, it’s important to work closely with the management and janitorial staff. Ideally, units with new residents should be inspected and treated with Aprehend within one week of move-in.

3. How does Aprehend perform in units with a lot of clutter or hoarding situations?

Aprehend shines even in the worst situations despite the level of clutter. All bed bugs must come out to feed and in doing so, will be exposed to Aprehend barriers; they then carry the spores deep into hidden harborages to infect others. This is a real time saver for techs.

4. How long does a proactive treatment take to perform?

Proactive treatment of a hotel room can take under five minutes as long as the tech has clear access to the area where primary barriers are placed, usually the box spring, bed frame, headboard, nightstand and chair. Even active infestations are easier with Aprehend, because the bed bugs take Aprehend back to their harborage and share it with their friends — getting to the harborages you can’t see or reach.

5. Do you offer training for technicians?

Yes, we offer ad-hoc Zoom training for your team. We’ll customize it to fit your needs and work with your schedule. Just contact us at orders@conidiotec.com.
