A Work In Progress

A monthly trade magazine is a work in progress, constantly changing, constantly evolving, constantly aspiring to meet the needs of an ever-changing marketplace. That’s certainly the case with PCT magazine, a publication that has undergone a number of dramatic changes in its 30-year history to become the PCO’s most trusted source of industry news. Yet to continue to meet the information needs of an increasingly diverse marketplace, PCT can’t rest on its laurels. That’s why we recently embarked on an ambitious effort to "remake" PCT into a publication that will continue to serve PCOs well into the next century.

The most visible of those changes is a complete redesign of the publication. Six months in the making, the redesign — led by PCT Art Director Karen Angus and Managing Editor Jodi Dorsch — reflects our company’s growing commitment to both print and electronic communications. The redesign not only features new typefaces and a cleaner, more modern look, but provides our readers with a vehicle to learn more about issues impacting their personal and professional lives through our industry-leading website, www.pctonline.com. In addition to our conventional "print" coverage of industry issues, every month PCT will publish a number of exclusive online feature stories, air live "chats" with industry leaders, and regularly update product labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on our web- site, all with the goal of better serving our readers. Simply turn to page 6 of each month’s issue of PCT magazine to get an update on what new and exciting features are being added to pctonline.com by Internet Editor Steve Smith and Internet Art Director Sydney Work.

As part of our redesign effort, we’ve also added several new columnists to the pages of PCT. Bud Brewer, vice president of marketing and public relations for Massey Services, will author a monthly column called "Smart Marketing," while Jean Seawright Pileggi, president of Seawright & Associates, will write about personnel-related issues in her new column called "Workplace." They join Dr. Robert Corrigan, Dr. George Rambo and Dr. Richard Kramer in creating the strongest, most talented group of columnists working in the structural pest control industry. Harry Katz and Jeffrey Tucker, two other longtime columnists, will continue to write feature stories for PCT as contributing authors, joining veteran PCO Stoy Hedges of Terminix in that capacity.

After reviewing this month’s issue of PCT magazine we hope you are pleased with the changes. Let us know what you think by writing or e-mailing us with your comments. We’ll look forward to hearing from you!
