Bayer Launches Maxforce FC Magnum Cockroach Bait

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — Bayer Environmental Science has announced the availability of Maxforce® FC Magnum Roach Killer Bait Gel.

With five times the active ingredient, fpronil, cockroaches no longer need to consume the bait to die; they simply need to touch it — an innovative ContactX™ technology, which studies show significantly improves performance, according to Bayer.

“In the past, when cockroaches showed signs of bait aversion, we were able to successfully alter the bait matrix to ensure roaches ate the bait, which was the only way to control cockroach populations with baits at the time,” says Gordon Morrison, Maxforce Insecticides Market Manager for Bayer. “This time, to combat cockroach bait aversion, we changed the game. We optimized the amount of Fipronil so PMPs can eradicate cockroach populations whether they eat the bait or not, providing their customers with a faster, discreet, and more effective solution to cockroach elimination.”

To demonstrate Maxforce FC Magnum’s powerful contact kill, Maxforce researchers sealed the mouthparts of roaches and exposed them to the bait. “Magnum’s contact kill is not only effective; it works very quickly. Our studies show Magnum is the fastest, most powerful cockroach bait available for the control of both normal and bait-averse roaches,” said Nonggang Bao, leader of Professional Pest Management Biology at Bayer. “We’ve developed new strategies to win the latest battle in the war against German cockroaches. Additionally, Magnum is proven to be fast and effective against large roaches as well.”

Because cockroaches no longer need to consume the bait to die, PMPs can simply target high traffic areas such as corners, against walls and the entrances of cracks and crevices, to increase exposure and trigger a contact kill. Even as the bait ages, it retains a high level of moisture and remains potent. Maxforce FC Magnum also magnifies the Domino Effect™, a delayed killing action by which intoxicated cockroaches live just long enough to share the bait with others.
