Bird-B-Gone

Did you know pest birds and their debris can carry up to 109 known communicable diseases? Most notably:

  • H5N1/Bird flu
  • H1N1/Swine flu
  • Salmonella
  • E. coli
  • Histoplasmosis

Bird·B·Gone says its two products, SpectrumV Holographic Bird Gel and Avian Block, help PMPs easily add bird control to their business while simultaneously addressing public concerns regarding diseases and their transmission. The company says the products’ ease of installation, combined with the small physical footprint of both products, enables PMPs to treat many bird control issues on the first service call. And first call solutions mean more profitability for everyone, says Bird·B·Gone. Both products are American made.

Avian Block passively distributes a proprietary blend of the bird deterrent methyl anthranilate (grapeseed extract). Bird·B·Gone says Avian Block’s ease-of-use will help PMPs address historically hard-to-treat bird control issues, like outdoor restaurants, trees and entryways, or any other scenario where traditional structural bird control products like spikes, nets and tracks, can’t be used. The product effectively deters all bird species, is easy to install, and is virtually invisible, the company says.

Bird Barrier

Bird Barrier says the firm is looking forward to several new innovations this year. The company said it will offer more site visits remotely using phones. Bird Barrier says now more than ever, safety is a priority for the industry and installers, and as such, installers and technicians are using FaceTime at the job site for inspections. “We expect this trend to continue in our industry, saving everyone money and reducing the amount of time spent on a high ladder or lift,” the company says. “With our virtual inspections, we’ll soon be offering a pole that allows for easy phone mounting. This system will give installers the ability to show us live around a site, letting us capture a video of the problem.”

These virtual site visits, coupled with the expanded online training program that Bird Barrier offers, gives PMPs access to the company anywhere they are located.

  • Decreases bird nuisance by 70 percent.
  • Is an ecological solution that is animal-friendly.

FlyBye Bird Control Products

www.flybye.com

Since 1987, FlyBye Bird Control Products says its patented bird spikes have been manufactured 100 percent in the United States from quality stainless steel. Zero plastic components make the company’s spikes resist ultraviolet light and chemicals that are known to break down plastic spikes, FlyBye says. The spikes are designed to be placed on exposed and protected ledges where pest birds loaf or roost to prevent damage incurred by droppings or nesting materials.

Ideal for use on ledges, roof peaks, I-beams, parapet walls, conduits, signs, flat or curved surfaces, FlyBye’s bird spikes are designed to eliminate pest birds from creating a mess for PMPs’ clients.

The company says it offers a 20-year manufacturer’s warranty to assure PMPs that they are giving their customer the best, longest-lasting bird spike available. Products are sold by the foot and with manufacturer direct sales, most orders go out the same day. Next day shipping and drop orders are available to most locations.

Innolytics

Although pigeon breeding is concentrated in the spring and fall, depending on where your company is located, pigeons can reproduce all year. If your pest management firm is considering an OvoControl abatement program for pigeons or other pest birds, now is a great time to get started, Innolytics reports.

The first step is to condition birds to a daily baiting routine with an automatic feeder and pre-bait (cracked corn). These cost-effective units take all the work out of an OvoControl program and condition the birds to “breakfast” every morning. The birds get accustomed to the daily routine and come to expect the handout. You know that the pigeons are conditioned when the flock shows up 10-15 minutes before the feeder triggers.

Once the weather turns a little warmer and the days get a little longer, PMPs should transition the birds from cracked corn to OvoControl. Then, instead of a pigeon population boom every spring, you and your customers can watch the flock gradually decline over the summer.

Innolytics says OvoControl is a ready-to-use bait that is dispensed on flat rooftops with an automatic wildlife feeder. This effective and humane technology is especially useful for managing birds in larger areas without having to resort to avicides or labor-intensive trapping programs, the firm says.
