Learn the Ins and Outs of M&A

PCT’s fifth M&A Virtual Conference takes place Aug. 17 and features topics for those looking to purchase a business and those wanting to maximize the appeal of their business to prospective buyers.

On Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (EDT), PCT will host a Mergers & Acquisitions Virtual Conference for those interested in buying a business and for those who may want to sell theirs in the future. With advice from leading experts in the acquisition industry, and more specifically the pest control acquisition industry, attendees will gain a better understanding of what it takes to become a smart buyer and/or appealing seller.

Companies on both sides of selling and buying face challenges with transactions, negotiations and identifying the right time to buy or sell. Experts will present ideas on how to make the M&A market work in your favor as well as the dos and don’ts of buying and selling. Attendees will be walked through the aftermath of a sale/purchase and what to expect in a transition period.

The annual conference, going on its fifth year, is virtual, meaning attendees can listen in from their home or office. Sponsors include Arrow Exterminators, Rollins, Terminix, Massey Services and Rentokil Steritech.

Moreland will provide an overview of PCT magazine’s Mergers & Acquisitions Virtual Conference and review how attendees can get the most out of the event. Moreland also will review the current state and future prospects of the mergers an

d acquisitions market. Determining the Value of Your Business. Speaker: Kemp Anderson, owner and president of Kemp Anderson Consulting, Winter Park, Fla. Anderson will review the small but important details that need to be understood when selling a business. He will answer questions on how to prepare, how to know when the time is right to sell and how much to set your asking price.

The Insider’s Guide to Negotiating the Sale of Your Business.

Speaker: Lance Tullius, partner of Tullius Partners, Portland, Ore. Tullius Partners is a full-service financial consulting firm with mergers and acquisitions experience, and has helped facilitate a number of transactions in the pest control industry. Tullius will give pointers about when to sell, how to negotiate and the dos and don’ts of selling a business.

How to Identify Acquisition Targets or Prospective Buyers. Speaker: Eliot Peters, managing director of RA Capital Advisors, San Diego, Calif. Peters will break down the research buyers and sellers should undertake and how to spot which companies have a better chance of returning your investment.

  First Person: What It’s Like to Sell Your Business.

Speaker: Kevin Kordek, longtime owner of A-Active Termite & Pest Control. Kordek, a former NPMA president, will share his experience selling his business, including both the financial and emotional aftermath.
