ProVerde Line Added to a Growing AMVAC Arsenal

www.amvac-chemical.com

The newest addition to PMPs’ IPM toolbox, ProVerde from AMVAC, is a blend of optimized essential oils designed for peak performance. These 25(b) registration-exempt products are labeled for use on crawling and flying insects, including mosquitoes, in a variety of locations, including campgrounds, commercial buildings, day-care centers and living spaces. Flying and crawling insects succumb quickly to the quick knockdown provided by this powerful but environmentally friendly pest management tool, AMVAC says.

The optimized formulations are a result of ENVANCE technology, which teases out the most effective active ingredients in the oils, then optimizes them to target tyramine receptors in the insect. With ProVerde PMPs will see excellent control using low levels of active ingredient, the manufacturer reports.

The line includes a broad spectrum aerosol, wasp and hornet spray, and dust. The entire ProVerde product line contains the optimized formulations aimed specifically at Tyramine receptors in the insect nervous system, and since these products attack different sites, there is no resistance, AMVAC reports.

Wide Range of Products from Zoëcon

www.zoecon.com

Zoëcon Professional Products offers Mavrik Perimeter, Lambda 9.7 CS, Altosid Larvicides and Essentria IC-3 for mosquitoes.

Mavrik Perimeter is a broad-spectrum pyrethroid that controls a variety of pests, principal among them, mosquitoes. Applied as a perimeter treatment on outside surfaces, lawns, gardens and trees, this product provides immediate knockdown and kill of adult mosquitoes, Central Life Sciences reports. Mavrik Perimeter leaves no visible residue or lingering odor and is non-toxic and non-repellent to honeybees, the company adds.

Lambda 9.7 CS was designed with flexible application in mind, including spot, crack and crevice, and power spray methods. Advanced protection technology prevents the active ingredient from breakdown in heat and UV exposure, resulting in greater residual control and reduced callbacks.

Altosid Pro-G and 30-Day Briquets feature the Insect Growth Regulator (S)-Methoprene. Applied to standing water, these low-cost, long-lasting options prevent mosquito larvae from becoming adults for up to 30 days of control, according to the manufacturer.

Essentria IC-3 Insect Concentrate is a broad-spectrum, FIFRA 25(b) exempt, minimum-risk insecticide, offering knockdown and kill of adult mosquitoes with a long-lasting residual. Ideal for use as an outdoor barrier treatment, the product provides control without a negative effect on non-target species, the firm says.

Control Solutions: New Vector Products to Combat Mosquitoes

www.controlsolutionsinc.com

Control Solutions Inc. (CSI) has introduced two new mosquito control products to its arsenal of products to manage mosquitoes and other flying insects: Mosquito Mist Ultra and Stryker 5-25.

Mosquito Mist Ultra is a concentrated formula with unique properties, allowing it to be mixed with oil or water or be applied undiluted. Mosquito Mist Ultra has the right combination of permethrin and PBO to provide ideal knockdown and residual control, when applied through residential misting systems, ULV foggers, mist blowers and thermal foggers, the firm says. CSI has formulated this product to perform at low use rates, and be economical enough to use in a variety of applications. Mosquito Mist Ultra comes in gallon jugs and specially designed quart bottles, allowing for easy mixing in drum mosquito misting systems and tankless units.

CSI also is introducing Stryker 5-25, a water-based pyrethrin formulation, with more than 60 insects and 100 use sites on the label. This new micro-emulsion formulation is designed to be mixed with water, and provides quick knockdown and efficient control of insect pests. The 5 percent pyrethrin/25 percent PBO ratio has been developed to provide maximum performance, especially on flying insects. In addition, CSI’s Stryker 5-25 has been approved for use on livestock and in food-processing and production facilities. Stryker 5-25 comes in 64-ounce tip “n” measure bottles for ease of measuring when filling drums and foggers.

With iMistAway, MistAway’s dealers are able to reduce operating costs while providing a superior level of service to their customers, the firm says.

MosquitoMax Introduces Automatic Larvicide Dispensing Device

www.mosquitomax.com

MosquitoMax has invented a patent-pending automatic larvicide dispensing device that works year-round to eliminate mosquito larva in catch basins, French drains, culverts, drainage systems and other places that hold standing water. The Larvanator ALD-365 is for use in residential yard spaces, as well as parks, playgrounds, golf courses, school grounds and municipal storm drain infrastructure.

The Larvanator ALD-365 fastens quickly to the underside of any catch basin cover and automatically dispenses a professional grade insect growth regulator into the catch basin every 30 days once activated. It runs on one 9-volt battery, which is replaced once per year. The constant presence of larvicide kills mosquito larvae, preventing them from becoming adult mosquitoes.

The Larvanator was developed in response to a problem the company found when identifying the source of breeding mosquitoes. Even after aerial spraying to control adult mosquitoes, larvae was clearly visible in drains that held standing water. The only solution at the time was to apply larvicide granules by hand. Said inventor Jeff White, “This invention is a game changer for the industry. It eliminates larva growth where it’s installed, which reduces the need to spray for adult mosquitoes. You can’t always eliminate the water source, so you must treat it. When you treat the source of the problem, you have a good foundation for a successful integrated mosquito management program.”

Rockwell Labs Offers Comprehensive Range of Mosquito Control Products

www.rockwelllabs.com

Rockwell offers a comprehensive mosquito control portfolio for any treatment area PMPs encounter, including sensitive accounts. New LambdaStar Ultra Cap with 9.7% lambda cyhalothrin is an innovative capsule suspension formula that provides exceptional residual control, Rockwell Labs says. A premium solution at an economical price, LambdaStar Ultra Cap is a great choice for general mosquito barrier treatments, the firm added.

For sensitive customers or environmental areas, such as near bodies of water, Rockwell’s EcoVia range of research-based botanicals provides exceptional results in a FIFRA 25(b) exempt format, Rockwell Labs reports. EcoVia EC Emulsifiable Concentrate provides fast knockdown and residual repellency, and can be sprayed up to the water’s edge and fogged over water. Tank-mixing 1 ounce per gallon of EcoVia EC with LambdaStar or another pyrethroid will provide faster knockdown, and extend the residual compared to either product used alone.

New EcoVia G Granular Insecticide features a higher level of botanical active ingredients and a lower use rate while delivering quicker control and longer residual protection. EcoVia G is a complement to sprays for targeted applications to landscape areas with heavier growth and the boundary between wooded areas and turf, or as a standalone full-yard treatment, Rockwell Labs says.

Syngenta Offers SecureChoice Mosquito Assurance Program

www.syngentapmp.com

Syngenta Professional Pest Management recently announced the continuation of its SecureChoice Mosquito Assurance Program. This program provides pest management professionals the opportunity to grow their customer base and generate additional revenue with a unique 60-day treatment cycle.

Unlike other services that offer 21-day or 30-day mosquito control, the SecureChoice Mosquito Assurance Program provides control for up to 60 days. With the combination of Demand CS insecticide and Archer insect growth regulator, this treatment can help free up technician time and reduce mosquito populations around customers’ homes or properties for nearly three times as long, Syngenta says.

Demand CS provides immediate and residual control of mosquitoes, while Archer interrupts the reproduction cycle of mosquitoes. The Demand CS + Archer Multipak, which contains two quarts of Demand CS and five pints of Archer, is a cost-effective solution that can be used as part of the SecureChoice Mosquito Assurance Program, Syngenta says. If applications of Demand CS and Archer fail to provide adequate reduction of mosquito populations during the 60-day treatment period, Syngenta PPM will provide the appropriate quantity of Demand CS and Archer to cover the necessary retreatment(s).

PMPs can participate in the program by purchasing Demand CS and Archer between Jan. 1 and Nov. 30, 2016 (“Program Period”), and by making applications by Nov. 30, 2016. Demand CS, Archer and the Multipak also count as qualifying purchases for the 2016 PestPartners 365 Program, which offers yearlong rebate savings for PMPs who qualify by April 30, 2016.

NPMA Urges Caution as Virus Spreads

As concerns over Zika virus grows, the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) is urging the public to take precautions to help curb problems during warmer months. “We are monitoring the situation closely and working to help educate the public on ways to not only avoid contact with mosquitoes when traveling to regions where the disease is present, but also how they can eliminate breeding grounds at home as spring and summer approaches,” said Cindy Mannes, vice president of public affairs for NPMA.

NPMA suggests the following mosquito prevention tips:

  • The type of Aedes mosquito that carries Zika virus is a daytime biter, so people should take steps to protect their skin from mosquito bites at all times of the day by applying an insect repellent containing at least 20 percent DEET, picaridin or oil of lemon-eucalyptus. Also, consider wearing long pants, long-sleeved shirts and closed-toe shoes.
  • Mosquito-borne diseases that may be rare in the U.S. are common in many foreign countries, so anyone traveling outside the U.S. should be aware of travel advisories in effect. If a person falls ill upon returning home, seek prompt medical attention.
  • Homeowners should eliminate areas of standing water around the property such as flowerpots, birdbaths, baby pools and grill covers. Mosquitoes need only about a half an inch of water to breed. It’s also recommended to screen all windows and doors, and patch up even the smallest tear. If there are concerns about mosquito activity, homeowners should contact a licensed pest control company or their local mosquito abatement district.
