In-Quiz-It Software
www.utrapit.comIn-Quiz-It Software has released version 7 of its U-Trap-It System, which brings many new features and hundreds of enhancements to strengthen the proactive management of pests, according to the company. The software’s reporting system has several improvements — it delivers detailed information users require to be audit ready 24/7 and comply with FSMA and HARPC. It also has the ability to enter freehand text notes when reporting issues or providing service comments. Additionally, at facilities where photos are allowed to be used, these can be easily added to the notes section from convenient use of the handheld’s camera. Both the handheld application and the desktop application have been rewritten in the newest application development systems, making both even faster than previous versions.
The U-Trap-It System is used worldwide by thousands of food-processing facilities and in many other applications, the company says. The system can handle tens of thousands of devices deployed in a city for rodent elimination or a plant facility to protect products. It can just as easily track the services and inspections of thousands of rooms in a hotel, hospital or dormitory.
For more than 20 years, In-Quiz-It Software has been developing software system solutions for use in critically pest-sensitive settings such as residential/commercial properties, industrial facilities, municipal pest management sites and vector control habitats.
J.F. Oakes
www.jfoakes.comNow available from J.F. Oakes is the first and only trap with both a pheromone and food lure for the rice weevil, Sitophilus oryzae, the firm says. The XLure Ready To Use (R.T.U.) Rice Weevil Trap uses the same body type as the XLure R.T.U. Beetle Floor trap. The trap is reusable, with money-saving replacement kits available, J.F. Oakes reports.
The XLure Rice Weevil Trap also features a tab for securing the trap with the firm’s new tether system. The trap is for use in food-processing, storage and distribution facilities.
Bell Laboratories
www.belllabs.com/additional-speciesContrac All-Weather Blox is now available with an amended label for approved use on 11 additional species. The expanded label includes Peromyscus (deer mouse, cotton mouse and white-footed mouse), meadow voles and other invasive rodent species, including:
- Cotton rats
- Eastern harvest mouse
- Golden mouse
- Polynesian rat
- White-throated woodrat
- Southern plains woodrat
- Mexican woodrat
The expanded label provides PMPs with greater flexibility to obtain control against invasive non-commensal rodent species while closely adhering to label guidelines, according to Bell Laboratories. The revision comes after a recent U.S. Environmental Protection Agency decision that lifts a previous ban against the use of rodenticides on pests other than house mice, Norway rats and roof rats.
Contrac All-Weather Blox is approved for use on Peromyscus species. Peromyscus, in particular the deer mouse and white-footed mouse, are the primary vectors of hantavirus.
OvoControl
www.ovocontrol.comOvoControl P, “birth control” for birds, has been approved by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for use in Puerto Rico. The product has received a Special Local Needs (24(c)) registration in this unique ecological habitat.
The first product of its kind, OvoControl represents a long-term solution for pigeon control, according to the manufacturer. OvoControl interferes with egg hatchability, causing the population of birds to decline through attrition. With proper use, pigeon populations typically decline by approximately 50 percent annually. As a result, parks and industrial facilities are increasingly implementing this safe and effective tool for pigeon management.
OvoControl is a ready-to-use bait, dispensed on flat rooftops with an automatic wildlife feeder. This effective and humane technology is especially useful for managing pigeon flocks in larger areas without having to resort to poisons and their associated risks, the company said.
Registered for use in 49 states (excluding New Hampshire), OvoControl is ideal for large areas where some pigeons can be tolerated but where substantially reduced populations is desired. Baiting can begin any time and OvoControl has been shown to have a wide margin of safety and efficacy. No special license is required to purchase or apply the product.
