QualityPro Celebrates 15th Anniversary

QualityPro, the National Pest Management Association's credentialing program, is celebrating 15 years. NPMA looks back at the program's milestone achievements.

Editor's note: QualityPro, the National Pest Management Association's credentialing program, is celebrating 15 years. NPMA provided the following overview of the program and look back at milestone achievements.

FAIRFAX, Va. — QualityPro began in 2004, when NPMA leadership determined that the industry needed to define its own professional standards. QualityPro was founded to "raise all ships in the sea", and has continued in that spirit by creating and maintaining standards and resources that help companies of all sizes grow right. In addition to standards, QualityPro promotes accredited companies with cobranding opportunities, marketing guidance, and lead generation.

QualityPro accredited companies meet qualifications built around four key principles: Business Operations, Consumer Relations, Environmental Stewardship and Technician Training. Examples of the standards include criminal background checks of employees, maintaining insurance policies, and having a uniform and professional appearance policy. The QualityPro exam which issues a certificate of completion verifies that those performing or selling services across the country have the basic knowledge to perform the job. For 15 years, professionals across the country have used this certificate to prove their knowledge in the industry.

The spirit of the 16 QualityPro Standards have not changed, but the details have. As best practices and regulations have changed, QualityPro has kept accredited companies up-to-speed. As the legislative landscape has changed both at the national and state levels, we've worked closely with the NPMA Public Policy team to ensure that our standards, resources, and values have maintained the highest standard of excellence in the industry.

In recent years we've been adding resources and expanding the toolkit available to accredited companies. Most visibly a total rebranding of all QualityPro logos and merchandise to represent a bold step towards a modern industry and a way to let potential customers know that QualityPro accredited companies are not only practicing the highest standard of pest management, business operations, and customer service but are committed maintaining those standards and improving over time.

We've also added several service partners to assist smaller companies with meeting the business operations and HR standards, including a full-time Human Resources consultant and a dedicated background check company to make QualityPro accreditation accessible at all levels of business. These resources are made available to applied and accredited companies through QualityProTools.org in order to ensure the only barrier to entry for QualityPro is willingness to comply with high standards.

In our fifteen years we've added four service certifications for those accredited companies who perform services according to the industry's highest standards of excellence. GreenPro certified services prove a company's commitment to environmentally-conscious IPM and as of this year has been recognized by the US Green Building Council as fully-compliant with their current LEED V4.1 program. QualityPro Schools has been recognized and required by several public school systems nationwide as a qualifier for pest management companies intending to perform services in uniquely sensitive environments, and QualityPro Food Safety certifications have proven the difference for companies in getting contracts with major food distributors and warehousing groups. Our newest certification, designed for those companies who protect the Public Health by specializing in dealing with specific pests, has already released very popular Rodent and Mosquito certifications, and will be developing new certifications in coming years.
