J. F. Oakes

www.jfoakes.com

Pro-Pest Clothes Moth Traps are pre-baited with a natural insect sex attractant incorporated into the glue, making the ready-to-use traps pesticide free. To use Pro-Pest Clothes Moth Traps, PMPs need to remove the trap from bag, fold it in a triangular shape and place it in closet or where moth activity has been seen. Webbing clothes moths are lured into the trap away from valuable rugs, wool, clothes, fur, etc. The trap’s flat bottom allows placement on shelves or other flat surfaces. The trap is also hole-punched for easy hanging.

Bayer and PestWest

www.backedbybayer.com and www.pestwest.com

Environmental Science, a business unit of Bayer CropScience LP, recently launched the Florida Fly-Baiter, a fly control device developed by University of Florida graduate students under the supervision of Dr. Phil Koehler and produced by Sarasota-based PestWest. The product utilizes fly behavioral biology cues in conjunction with Maxforce Fly Spot Bait to attract and kill flies in various settings.

The Florida Fly-Baiter was born from a grant issued by the Armed Forces Pest Management Board seeking solutions to filth fly issues as part of the Deployed Warfighter Protection Program (DWFP). The University of Florida’s Urban Entomology Laboratory was selected as the recipient of the grant and over the course of five years, graduate students worked with Dr. Phil Koehler and Dr. Roberto Pereira to develop a baiting structure that would act as a visual attractant to flies.

The product is a hollow, triangular, blue structure with four textured black strips on each of the three sides and cords at the bottom and top to secure it. The Fly-Baiter can be suspended or pinned to a flat surface anywhere that filth flies are an issue. When suspended, the space inside the structure can be utilized to house additional attractants.

Liphatech

www.liphatech.com

Liphatech recently introduced Resolv, the latest rodenticide in the firm’s soft bait family.

Resolv is a soft bait with the active ingredient bromadiolone, which is simple to use and highly palatable to both mice and rats, the company says. Each 12-gram Resolv pouch works in a single feeding, Liphatech reports. The product is designed for customized dosing — PMPs can use the exact amount of Resolv necessary — more for heavy infestations, less for maintenance.

Resolv does not contain wax, so palatability is maximized. Additionally, taste and efficacy is not affected by extreme heat or cold, and the pouch reduces the chance of crumbling or being translocated. It also does not melt, even in extreme heat, the firm reports.

The Resolv pouch can be used like traditional block bait — it can be quickly and securely fixed on the vertical or horizontal bars of a bait station, yet retains its aroma and high palatability. Clean up is easy because the product is readily consumed by rodents and not scattered.

Resolv is available in a case of two 8-pound pails or a 16-pound pail.

PestPractice

www.pestpractice.com

Developed in the UK, a new online training tool, PestPractice, focuses exclusively on the needs of pest management. Delivering video presentations from recognized industry experts on demand via the web, PestPractice is available anywhere in the world. The first six modules have a strong technical element, but plans are being made to extend the topics to include business and management skills.

With this format, training can be targeted to pest management professionals’ needs, or the needs of their team, the company said, adding, in this way PMPs only pay for what they need. Each webinar lasts around 40 to 45 minutes, and once registered, any of the webinars can be accessed immediately.

The concept was developed by two UK technical experts, Adrian Meyer from Acheta and Clive Boase from Pest Management Consultancy. Both have worked extensively around the world and are frequently heard at international conferences. They worked closely with new media company Glow, the firm behind the UK’s Internet forum, Pest Control Portal, and Pest, the UK’s independent magazine and digital news service for the pest management industry.

The first six modules include:

  • Understanding house mouse behavior and its impact on effective control
  • Keep it legal — mammal protection requirements
  • Rodenticide labels — a guided tour
  • Squeezing the best from insecticide gels
  • Phantom biting — causes and solutions
  • Insecticide labels — a guided tour

Santa Fe Products

www.santa-fe-products.com

Santa Fe Products, a division of Therma-Stor, has introduced the Santa Fe Crawlspace Alert, which was designed with PMPs in mind. According to Therma-Stor, the Crawlspace Alert continuously monitors a variety of conditions in the crawlspace, which are critical to maintaining and preserving your customer’s home, safety and comfort. If the Crawlspace Alert detects high humidity levels that encourage mold, mildew or fungal growth, the orange warning lamp lights, signaling the homeowner should contact their pest control professional. If a power surge or failure occurs, resetting the Santa Fe equipment is not necessary. The Santa Fe dehumidifier, condensate pump and Crawlspace Alert are designed to immediately resume operating at their previous settings as soon as power is restored. And finally, in the event that the condensate pump switch is tripped for any reason, the Crawlspace Alert automatically turns the dehumidifier off to prevent water from overflowing into the crawlspace. The Santa Fe Crawlspace Alert mounts to a floor joist near your customer’s Santa Fe dehumidifier. The warning light can be located either inside or outside the home.
