Marathon Data Systems
In a continued effort to help its clients increase efficiency while maintaining superior customer service, Marathon Data Systems has developed several route optimization products focused on reducing waste by optimizing service routes while enhancing employee productivity and customer satisfaction. Marathon’s newest mobile workforce management offerings, PestPac GPS and PestPac RouteOp are designed to help PCOs efficiently plan routes, quickly create optimized schedules and routes, and then measure their technicians’ actual performance against those optimized routes.
PestPac GPS provides the ability to track vehicles in real time; monitor truck usage and deliver alerts via text message or e-mail to managers when aggressive driving occurs or when vehicles are used after hours or outside geographically defined areas; and reduce insurance premiums. In addition, through integration of PestPac GPS into the PestPac office management software, PestPac customers only need to access one application to manage all their service, GPS and route optimization settings, reports, and features, thereby simplifying their lives and increasing ROI.

Bird-B-Gone
Bird-B-Gone has added Heavy Duty Pond Netting to its line of professional grade bird control products. Recent studies have shown that every year thousands of protected migratory birds die in tailing or detention ponds used for industrial waste or filtering, the company said. Birds mistake these ponds for fresh water and often become poisoned by toxins present in the water. Pond Netting is stretched over these areas and used as a physical barrier to prevent birds from landing in toxic tailing ponds or other water collection sites.
Bird-B-Gone’s new Heavy Duty Pond Netting is made from a durable, UV-stabilized DuPont knotted-mesh nylon and meant for prolonged use in harsh environments. The netting comes in large stock sizes and custom cuts with installation hardware. In addition, Bird-B-Gone’s team of bird control engineers can assist with design and installation advice.

ServicePro
The ServSuite program developed by Service Pro.net will be available on the Apple and Android platforms in the second quarter of 2012. This breakthrough will give pest control companies flexibility to increase revenues and decrease expenses, as they will no longer need special equipment to access client invoices and records or organize their mobile workforce, the firm said. With an Android or Apple-based mobile phone, any pest control manager or field technician can access information from their ServSuite account. Pest control technicians can easily access their schedules, service routes and clients’ information on a mobile phone, tablet or laptop.
For pest control operators using Windows Mobile on portable devices, Service Pro.net has a traditional Windows Mobile 6.5 application designed to run on bar-code and non-bar-code scanner devices.

General Motors
General Motors will sell a compressed natural-gas bi-fuel commercial pickup truck early in the fourth quarter of 2012. GM currently provides a single-source commercial option with the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana CNG cargo vans. The addition of a bi-fuel CNG pickup is designed to help satisfy a broader range of needs for commercial customers looking for a one-stop alternative fuel vehicle from the factory.
GM says the bi-fuel commercial trucks will be covered by GM’s three-year, 36,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty and five-year, 100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty and vehicle emissions warranty, meeting all Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) emission certification requirements.
IMPCO Automotive is the Tier-One supplier for integrating the CNG bi-fuel delivery and storage system into the pickups alongside the Express and Savana CNG-dedicated cargo vans at IMPCO Automotive’s facility in Union City, Ind.
