AMVAC’s Summit B.t.i. Briquets Control Mosquito Larvae

www.amvac-chemical.com

For more than 25 years, fast-acting Summit bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis (B.t.i.) Briquets have been working to control mosquitoes, AMVAC reports. With its extended release B.t.i. formulation for control of mosquitoes in the larvae stage, the product is reliable and environmentally responsible, AMVAC adds.

Summit B.t.i. Briquets are a small circular cork matrix that floats on standing water, where mosquitoes spend the first stages of their lives. As the briquet slowly dissolves, it releases a bacterium, which is ingested by mosquitoes in the larval stage and is toxic to all species of mosquito larvae. The active ingredient in Summit B.t.i. Briquets, bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis (B.t.i.), is a common soil-borne substance. The unique nature of this bacterium is that while deadly for mosquito larvae, it is harmless to other living things including humans, aquatic insects, fish, and other aquatic life.

Summit B.t.i. Briquets can be used anywhere water collects and allows mosquitoes to breed and remain for periods of time. After female mosquitoes lay their eggs in or near standing water treated with a Summit B.t.i. Briquet, the larvae that hatch feed on the B.t.i., which provides an immediate kill and prevents them from developing into adults capable of spreading diseases.

As a sustained-release product, Summit B.t.i. Briquets take up to 30 days to completely dissolve. This prevents the need for daily and weekly checks, cutting down on the time and money spent for control.

AMVAC says including Summit B.t.i. Briquets as the larvacidal element of an IPM plan eliminates the potential negative effect of impact on non-target insects. Additionally, the Briquets work well with adulticide products like Dibrom Concentrate and Trumpet EC.

The Hype Behind Hyperion

www.mgk.com

Hyperion is the next generation of mosquito control technology for residential misting application, MGK says. Engineered for use in misting systems, Hyperion utilizes a proprietary MGK formulation that allows stable dilution in water and is effective at low mix rates, according to MGK.

Hyperion uses the active ingredient sumithrin, which has been widely used to combat mosquito virus outbreaks following Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, as well as the West Nile outbreak in 2012.

Having the next generation of misting technology that is proven to deliver residual activity for up to three days adds to every mosquito control professional’s arsenal of mosquito control solutions, MGK reports.

Hyperion can be applied outdoors with backpack sprayers, blowers and handheld sprayers; in and around horse barns; and outdoors in residential misting systems, MGK reports. Hyperion is developed to be effective against mosquitoes, stable flies, fire brats, ants, flying moths and other nuisance insects.

MistAway Systems Offers iMistAway

www.mistaway.com/goodbiz

MistAway Systems offers iMistAway, a technology that wirelessly connects its misting control units to the Internet. iMistAway allows MistAway’s dealers to monitor their customers’ misting systems through a web browser or smartphone, enabling activities like auditing the volume of insecticide remaining in the unit and checking for error conditions like a cut line or tripped GFI — without the cost of a service trip.

The solution also includes an app that a PMP can load onto the customer’s smartphone. The app can be customized with the PMP’s name and logo and will allow the customer to see their system’s status or use their smartphone to trigger or stop a mist. The app also will enable the customer to easily contact his MistAway dealer or Refer a Friend.

With iMistAway, MistAway’s PMPs will be able to reduce operating costs while providing a superior level of service to their customers, the firm says. The solution may be retrofitted to all MistAway systems sold since 2007, and is available exclusively to MistAway’s dealers.

Rockwell Labs Ltd: EcoVia EC is a Powerful, Broad Spectrum Botanical Insecticide

www.rockwelllabs.com

Rockwell Labs Ltd says EcoVia EC is a powerful, broad spectrum botanical insecticide that was created through a rigorous research and development process, extensively tested in the lab and proven in the real world. The botanical oils in EcoVia EC specifically were chosen for their efficacy on a wide range of pest species and are exceptional on flying insects like mosquitoes.

Applied alone, EcoVia EC provides powerful knockdown of mosquitoes and a flexible use label permitting applications in environmentally sensitive areas, including up to the water’s edge, the manufacturer says. When tank mixed with a pyrethroid insecticide, EcoVia EC provides rapid knockdown of mosquitoes when customers want to see results immediately, while providing longer residual than either product would alone. EcoVia EC mixes easily and stays in solution, has minimal fragrance at label application rates and is more gentle on equipment, Rockwell Labs says. EcoVia EC is available in 16-fluid ounce and 64-fluid ounce measuring bottles.

Customers Get Their Yards Back with SecureChoice Mosquito Assurance Program

www.syngentapmp.com

Syngenta Professional Pest Management (PPM) announced it is launching its SecureChoice Mosquito Assurance Program for PMPs. Syngenta says this program can give PMPs a competitive advantage for controlling mosquitoes on their residential accounts.

The SecureChoice Mosquito Assurance Program provides control for up to 60 days. As such, PMPs now have a new program option to incorporate into their general pest operations, Syngenta says.

“Syngenta understands PMPs need to enhance their residential mosquito services, due in part to recent attention on mosquito-borne diseases,” said John Dombrosky, head of marketing for Syngenta PPM, Americas. “The SecureChoice Mosquito Assurance Program can be an effective solution, while allowing PMPs to stand out in the marketplace with a unique business offering.”

The program includes the combination of Demand CS insecticide and Archer Insect Growth Regulator. Demand CS is formulated using iCAP technology, which features microcaps of multiple sizes that provide immediate and residual control of mosquitoes, Syngenta reports. To complement Demand CS, Archer interrupts the reproduction cycle of mosquitoes, causing them to lay non-viable eggs or prevent larvae from developing into adults.

PMPs can enroll in the 2015 SecureChoice Mosquito Assurance Program by filling out and submitting the official program sheet. PMPs then can participate in the program by making purchases of Demand CS and Archer between March 1 and Nov. 30, 2015, (“Program Period”), and by making applications by Nov. 30, 2015. Any purchases of Demand CS and Archer made by April 30 also will count toward the 2015 PestPartners 365 Program. Additionally, if a homeowner requests a retreatment at any point during the 60-day treatment cycle, Syngenta PPM will supply the appropriate amount of Demand CS and Archer to cover the retreatment.
