AP&G recently introduced the all-new SilenTrap ILT by Catchmaster. The SilenTrap is a freestanding plug-in unit that features a 13-watt UV bulb. The device is lightweight and can be easily moved from location to location to assist in knocking down outbreaks or “hotspots,” AP&G reports. The front grill can be removed for unit maintenance, bulb replacement and cleaning. Replacement boards simply slide through the slot on top of the unit. The SilenTrap is designed for use in areas where large or heavy-duty ILTs may not be needed. The SilenTrap is a discreet and economical option that is suitable for use in locations with low to moderate fly populations, such as counters, commercial kitchens, garbage rooms or wherever flying insects are an issue.

Bell Laboratories

www.belllabs.com

Bell Laboratories’ Protecta EVO Express recently passed all requirements for certification as a Tier 1 bait station. To be Tier 1, the station must pass EPA-established protocols that demonstrate resistance to children and dogs and have performance features for weather resistance. The Protecta EVO Express is child resistant: EPA Protocol 1.229 requires that a station be tested with at least 50 children to ensure they are unable to open the station or reach inside and access the placebo bait. The Protecta EVO Express passed this test with 50 out of 50 children unable to open the station or access the placebo bait.

The Protecta EVO Express is dog resistant: EPA Protocol 1.230 requires that six dogs are denied access to the bait for up to two hours. Bell’s EPA-approved protocol requires 12 dogs first actively interact with the station within the first 15 minutes of exposure or the dog is disqualified. The Express passed all 12 dogs.
