AB Bait Offers New Soft Bait and Wax Bait Rodenticides
Brigand SB is a ready-to-use soft bait formulated specifically for the U.S. market. The product’s manufacturer says Brigand SB is produced using food-grade wheat flour, chopped grain, soft lard and synthetic peanut flavoring, all which produce a high-calorie, high-energy rodenticide.
Brigand WB is a ready-to-use cast wax block formulated for maximum palatability along with heat and moisture resistance.
AP&G Introduces Catchmaster Slim
AP&G has introduced the Catchmaster Slim, a narrow-profile, multi-catch mouse trap. The Slim features a multi-catch mechanism that can be used with or without a glueboard, or the device can be converted into a bait station. The Slim can be placed in locations where typical light-gauge metal traps cannot fit or hold up, the company says, such as in warehouses between pallets, in offices between filing cabinets, and in kitchens between and behind appliances. The Slim’s polycarbonate construction is rugged, durable and made in the USA.
Bell Laboratories Offers Low-Profile Protecta EVO Ambush
The “evolution” of Bell Laboratories’ new, time-saving Protecta EVO bait station line continues, the company says, with the introduction of its most advanced, low-profile bait station, Protecta EVO Ambush.
Protecta EVO Ambush, like Bell Labs’ Protecta LP, sits low to the ground, and is ideal for use in pallets, shelving and other out-of-the-way spots where rats and mice travel, the company says. The station measures approximately 10 by 8 1/4 by 4 1/8 inches, slightly higher than the Protecta LP, to accommodate the T-Rex Rat Snap Trap. “Yet, EVO Ambush is so much more with built-in features to save technicians valuable servicing time,” said Bell Product Manager Kate Mella.
The station’s single-locking mechanism, a mark of the EVO line, lets technicians unlock the station in a single stroke, yet provides a high degree of tamper-resistance, the firm says. The EVO key unlocks any EVO bait station. And, inside the station, Bell has designed a removable bait tray with rounded corners for easy cleaning.
Bell Labs says the biggest time-saver, however, comes when technicians secure the station. Opening to the side, EVO Ambush can be anchored to Bell’s Sidekick Load-N-Lock system for secured placement. The system, which is weighed down with two standard concrete bricks, eliminates the added time, expense and mess associated with traditional anchoring methods. As an added benefit, Load-N-Lock’s ramped entry elevates EVO Ambush which helps keep bait dry in water-prone conditions.
Protecta EVO Ambush holds four 1-ounce (28g) bait Blox or a T-Rex Rat Snap Trap or Mini-Rex Mouse Snap Trap. Four vertical bait rods lock in place and won’t fall out during servicing. A bar code installed inside the lid is compatible with pest management software. A service card also can be placed in the service card slot inside the station or affixed on the outside.
Made of 100 percent recycled, heavy-duty, injection-molded plastic, EVO Ambush can withstand the rigors of baiting outdoors and in, Bell Labs says. It has been designed to meet EPA-established protocols for Tier 1 distinction, the highest level of tamper-resistance to both children and dogs, as well as weather resistance.
“Protecta EVO Ambush is a workhorse station,” Mella added. “It has it all for fast, easy servicing, plus it’s designed to keep children and dogs out, giving technicians added peace of mind.”
J.T. Eaton Celebrates Eight Decades of Excellence
Top: Stanley Z. Baker purchased J.T. Eaton in 1949. Bottom: Sons Ben and Bart Baker. |
Founded in 1932 by Jasper T. Eaton, J.T. Eaton & Co. started as a mail-order house for pest control products. Stanley Z. Baker purchased the company in 1949 and put the company on the path for product innovation. Company milestones include:
- 1962: Baker invents the first commercial paraffin bait block, which is still the industry standard today, the company says.
- 1979: Baker develops the first glue boards in trays, as we know them today. Before J.T. Eaton Stick-Em Glue Traps, some professionals used the radiators of their cars in the winter to soften industrial glueboards that were stuck together, and spread the glue across tar paper.
Baker passed away in 2005 but his sons Ben and Bart Baker continue his legacy of innovation at the company. Dale Baker, vice president of sales, represents the third generation of Bakers to lead the firm’s IPM product lines. Recent J.T. Eaton innovations include an extremely successful Bed Bug Program, Little Pete Slim Multiple Catch Mouse Trap, Top Loader Bait Stations, Synergetic Green Light Fly Lights and EPA-compliant bait options, the firm reports.
“Because 2012 is J.T. Eaton’s 80th anniversary, we will celebrate with many promotions to thank our customers and staff throughout the year,” Dale Baker said. “And for the National Pest Management Association’s PestWorld conference in October, we are going to have an Anniversary Celebration at the booth with cake. We will also have giveaways that include a customized J.T. Eaton Anniversary tote bag and J.T. Eaton USB drives — with product information and plenty of extra storage space.”
PMPs are encouraged to share their memories of the J.T. Eaton company from over the years on its Facebook page, www.facebook.com/pages/JT-Eaton-Co-Inc/210952208943459. Some of the memories will be shared in a book at the NPMA PestWorld booth as well.
Kness Mfg. Co. Introduces Pro-Ketch Junior
Just like Pro-Ketch Multiple Catch Mousetrap, Pro-Ketch Junior is always properly set, manufacturer Kness reports. The “tunnel-on-top” design of Pro-Ketch and Pro-Ketch Junior allows for faster and easier cleaning, the firm says.
Pro-Ketch Junior also offers an easy-view side window. The side window features new window technology, which is designed to offer PMPs easier viewing of the interior of the trap.
Junior is half the size of the original Pro-Ketch, which allows it to be placed in smaller spaces. Like other Kness products, Junior is 100 percent American made. Junior is handmade and hand tested at the firm’s plant in Albia, Iowa.
Kritter Caps Stop Pests From Entering Homes
www.wildlifecontrolsupplies.com
Kritter Caps are used in the tops and bottoms of outside corner posts of siding. They adjust to post sizes from 2½ to 6 inches for multiple uses, including: preventing bees and wasps from entering posts and building nests in customers’ homes; stopping bats, squirrels, chipmunks and other rodents from crawling up the corner posts and chewing their way inside the home; stopping cold weather drafts from penetrating the corner of the house; and keeping dogs from destroying corner posts while chasing after rodents. Kritter Caps easily snap into place, so no tools are necessary, and they are self-securing, the company says. Made of light grey plastic, the installed Kritter Cap is hidden from view. The product is available via Wildlife Control Supplies.
Liphatech Introduces Resolv No Wax Soft Bait
Liphatech recently introduced Resolv, the latest rodenticide in the firm’s soft bait family. Resolv features the active ingredient bromadiolone, which is simple to use and highly palatable to both mice and rats, according to the company. Each 12-gram Resolv pouch works in a single feeding. The product is designed for customized dosing — PMPs can use the exact amount of Resolv necessary — more for heavy infestations, less for maintenance.
Resolv does not contain wax, so palatability is maximized. Additionally, taste and efficacy is not affected by extreme heat or cold, and the pouch reduces the chance of crumbling or being translocated. It also does not melt, even in extreme heat, the firm reports.
The Resolv pouch can be used like traditional block bait — it can be quickly and securely fixed on the vertical or horizontal bars of a bait station, yet retains its aroma and high palatability. Clean-up is easy because the product is readily consumed by rodents and not scattered. Resolv is available in a case of two 8-pound pails or a 16-pound pail.
Pest Barrier’s Snap-Trap Magnetic Base Holds Traps to Metal
Pest Barrier has introduced a patent-pending Snap-Trap Magnetic Base that securely holds commonly used traps to any metal surface (except stainless steel). The plastic base features two powerful magnets molded into the bottom, while the top has two snap-tabs that hold the trap in place. The base will hold Kness Big Snap, Trapper T-Rex, Catchmaster Model 621PEZ, Motomco Tomcat and Victor Power Kill.
The two magnets generate almost 40 pounds of pull force (pulling straight away from the surface), the company said, noting that a test showed them able to hold 7½ pounds of exercise weights hanging straight down (the trap did not slide down a vertical metal surface).
Pest Barrier’s Snap-Trap Magnetic Bases are sold as a two-pack.
Sorexa Rodenticides from BASF Pest Control Solutions
Prescription Treatment brand Sorexa Bait Blocks, from BASF Pest Control Solutions, control roof rats, Norway rats and house mice in an easy-to-use formulation that is effective in both damp and dry environments.
Featuring the proven active ingredient difenacoum, Sorexa Bait Blocks are economical, palatable and versatile, making the rodenticide an excellent choice for use in a variety of commercial, industrial and residential accounts, according to the manufacturer.
Prescription Treatment brand Sorexa Pellet Place Packs, like the block formulation, feature the multi-feed anticoagulant difenacoum in a bait matrix that mice and rats find highly palatable.
Both products feature low toxicity to non-target animals, an important consideration when applying rodenticides in a variety of accounts.
The Sorexa product line also comes with the technical support and product stewardship of BASF Pest Control Solutions, a leading supplier of products to the structural pest control industry.
Unichem’s Ratimor Wax Blocks Have Increased Melting Point — Up to 160°F
Ratimor Wax Blocks have an increased melting point, up to 160°F, manufacturer Unichem says. Wax blocks are resistant to water and various environmental conditions, thus they are suitable for outdoor use. The blocks have sharp edges and are cut at an angle for easier feeding. The blocks contain the active ingredient bromadiolone.
The product:
- Contains ingredients that fight against mold
- Is especially formulated for humid environments, such as sewers, as well as indoor and outdoor use
- Contains numerous attractants
- Is resistant against mechanical damage
- Is stable in high heat and humidity
VM Products EZ-Secured Station Saves Time, Money
The RBS1 EZ-Secured eliminates the costs associated with securing bait stations to concrete blocks. Bedford, Texas-based VM Products says PMPs need to take into account all the time and money it takes for them to make their bait stations safe and secure. Employees’ time, cost of blocks, glue, nails, screws and fuel are all removed when PMPs use the RBS1 EZ-Secured, the manufacturer says. Each block is dyed black and weighs 9 pounds. The RBS EZ-Secured eliminates these costs:
- Labor ordering blocks
- Labor assembling the blocks
- Cost of blocks
- Cost of delivering blocks
- Liquid nails or screws
- Available in 3 colors: black, green and white.
Weatherblok XT Rodenticide
Weatherblok XT, from Syngenta Professional Products, is a low-dose, single-feed anticoagulant featuring the proven active ingredient brodifacoum.
As its name suggests, Weatherblok XT is known for its outstanding resistance to the elements and superior formulation, according to the manufacturer. The high-density bait matrix offers superior palatability, while not compromising its resilience in all types of weather. In fact, Weatherblok XT maintains its shape and color, even after being immersed in water for 24 hours or longer.
Featuring multiple gnawing edges that rodents find extremely attractive, Weatherblok XT contains Bitrex, a human taste deterrent, and is effective against warfarin-resistant mice and rats. A rat needs to eat only six percent of the block to achieve control, and for mice it’s a mere one percent, Syngenta says. In addition to use around both urban and rural structures, Weatherblok XT is also labeled for use in drains and sewers.
Woodstream Offers New Bulk Pack Victor Kill & Seal Mouse Traps
The Victor Kill & Seal Mouse Trap is now available in a 12-trap bulk pack, item M265P. Kill & Seal is a patented hygienic trap that quickly and humanely kills the mouse and seals in all the contaminants, biohazards and odors, the manufacturer reports. The catch is also not visible. The sealed design makes it an ideal control device for use in sensitive accounts such as schools, offices, health-care facilities, day-care centers and other similar locations, Woodstream says. PMPs need to bait the trap, pull the red lever down to set the catch mechanism and place the trap in area of mouse activity. When the mouse is caught, the red door closes to indicate a catch. The entire trap is then disposed of to prevent contact with the catch or its contaminants.
