Bayer Environmental Science
Bayer Environmental Science has announced the availability of Maxforce Complete Brand Granular Insect Bait. The unique bait matrix in Maxforce Complete is specially designed by Bayer researchers to take advantage of the nutritional preferences of a broad range of perimeter pests, including ants, cockroaches, crickets, and silverfish. Granules within the formula contain different combinations of food ingredients that accommodate the changing food preferences of a broad spectrum of pests throughout the year. Maxforce Complete also features a scientifically-calibrated range of particle sizes that are designed to accommodate ants and perimeter pests of all sizes. The range of low density particle sizes enables the bait to be carried by a variety of pests, ranging from the smallest ants to the largest cockroaches. This new Maxforce formulation delivers high performance results while maintaining the effective, low impact pest control required for sound IPM programs. Maxforce Complete features Bayer ES’s exclusive Domino Effect, a delayed action kill whereby foraging ants share the active ingredient, ultimately eliminating ant colonies even in inaccessible areas. The bait remains effective for long periods of time when placed in protected areas and is labeled for use indoors and outside. Maxforce Complete is ideal for crack and crevice, perimeter, mound and broadcast treatments, or in isolated interior areas such as attics or crawlspaces, according to Bayer ES.

FMC Professional Solutions
FMC Professional Solutions recently introduced CB-40 insecticide, a new water-based aerosol with an extensive spectrum of pests and application sites on the label — including direct application to mattresses for bed bug control, the company reports.
CB-40 is designed to deliver the performance of an oil-based aerosol product, but was formulated with water as the primary carrier, providing effective control in an environmentally sensitive manner, according to FMC. A water-based aerosol gives PMPs a solution that can be used directly in areas where bed bugs are most commonly discovered, such as mattresses and upholstered furniture, without an oily residue that can create staining and potential odor problems, the company says.
CB-40 has a broad label that permits treatment of pests in many environments, including applications to food-handling areas.

Nisus Corporation
Nisus Corporation is now handling the sales, marketing and distribution of Termistop products to the pest control industry. Termistops, from Termimesh, are stainless steel mesh barriers for use in new construction and are attached to plumbing, electrical and other foundation penetrations prior to cement foundations being poured.
Nisus notes it has focused on offering sustainable termite solutions and Termistops fit that model by creating a stainless barrier at many termite entry points. The company also says Termistops can provide an ideal add-on sale opportunity for Bora-Care pretreaters. Nisus says the combination of Bora-Care termite pretreatments and Termistops can earn builders 1.5 points with the LEED for Homes rating system, 6 to 8 points with Earthcraft and 8 points with the NAHB Green program, putting PMPs in a position to deliver green points to builders at a great value. Additionally, Termistop training is designed to be simple and can be done online, the company says.

Natural Forces
InvisiDye is a new product designed to complement the existing line of Rejex-it bird repellents. This non-lethal avian training tool, when mixed with Migrate, Feather Duster or other bird repellants, teaches geese and birds to avoid treated grass, plants and fruit by offering a visual warning, the company says. According to the manufacturer, grass treated with Migrate and InvisiDye looks unchanged to the human eye, however, geese and birds can see the difference in color. By mixing InvisiDye with Migrate, Feather Duster or other repellants, birds have the ability to immediately associate irritation with the treated turf, plant or fruit.

Wildlife Management Supplies

Toilet barriers from Wildlife Management Supplies fit all 4-inch s-trap waste systems in the U.S., the supplier says. In addition to preventing rats, snakes, etc., from gaining access to property via the sewage system, the barrier also prevents cross-flow in horizontally opposed connections and reduces backflow of effluent in the event of a blockage. The product assists in flood plain areas, stopping solids coming back up through toilets and any vermin trying to force their way out through the pipes. Toilet barriers eliminate the need to dig up roads, walls, etc., to access the drainage system to remove/bait vermin as the barriers are easily accessible.

GonaCon immunocontraceptive vaccine has received EPA approval for use in female white-tailed deer one year of age and older. The single-shot, multi-year vaccine stimulates the production of antibodies that bind to the gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) in an animal’s body, and is designed to reduce the release of sex hormones in the animal. According to NWRC, all sexual activity is decreased, and animals remain in a nonreproductive state as long as a sufficient level of antibody activity is present. There is no known danger associated to humans or wildlife from eating deer that have been vaccinated with GonaCon, NWRC says.
GonaCon is registered as a restricted-use pesticide, and all users must be certified pesticide applicators. Only USDA-WS or state wildlife management agency personnel or individuals working under their authority can use it. GonaCon must also be registered within each individual state where it is being used and approved for use by that state’s fish and game/natural resource agency. The use of GonaCon alone cannot rapidly reduce overabundant deer populations to healthy levels. Instead, it is a tool that can be used in conjunction with other wildlife management methods, particularly in urban, residential areas and parks where other management methods, such as hunting, are not routinely feasible.

Bird-B-Gone
Bird-B-Gone has introduced Avian Plus, a bird hazing system that uses natural scents to deter pest birds from enclosed and semi-enclosed areas such as airline hangars, warehouses, storage facilities, loading docks, big box stores and more. Avian Plus is a small wall-mounted unit that emits a non-toxic, non-allergenic scent into the air that is pleasing to humans, and unbearable to birds, the company says, which makes buildings smell good, while keeping pest birds away at the same time. According to Bird-B-Gone, the natural scents make pest birds feel unbalanced, creating an environment they will want to avoid. The product is designed to keep pest birds from roosting or nesting in indoor rafter areas.
Avian Plus was developed by the aerobiology and infection control unit at Prolitec, a manufacturer of air treatment technologies. According to Bird-B-Gone, Avian Plus is an "always on" system that works continuously to produce an invisible vapor and maintain a constant level of hazing scent. Furthermore, the company says the system leaves no residue behind and uses significantly less liquid than other fogging or hazing systems. Each unit is computer controlled and can be programmed to fit the size/space of the area. Avian Plus is available in two sizes to serve spaces up to 250,000 cubic feet per unit.

Innolytics
Innolytics announced the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency removed the restricted-use classification for OvoControl P. The product’s edible pellets, treated with the active ingredient nicarbazin, are birth control for pigeons. OvoControl P was originally registered by the EPA in 2008 as a restricted-use pesticide due to "the potential for reproductive risk in other birds," the company reports.
In addition to exclusion and removal, OvoControl represents another component in an integrated program of pigeon management. In combination with other mitigation measures, OvoControl P results in a more comprehensive and effective, long-term control program, the company reports. OvoControl is available through pest control distributors and soon direct from Innolytics.
