B&G Equipment Co.
B&G Equipment Co. has developed Fast Catch, a new class of IPM rodent station featuring a rodent alert function. While the Fast Catch is engineered to use most industry standard snap traps, it also is designed to use non-toxic monitoring bait blocks and standard rodenticides, B&G says. This gives PMPs a new tool for rodent control that is compatible with EPA regulations, limiting the use of rodenticides in food-handling facilities, according to the company.
The Fast Catch is offered in two versions: the standard model and one with the patent-pending, mechanical Rodent Alert feature. With Rodent Alert, PMPs can see from a standing position whether the trap has been triggered. Other features include a "see-through" runway that is specially designed to meet the foraging behavior of Norway and roof rats, according to Dr. William Robinson, technical director at B&G Equipment Co. Once inside, it is difficult for the rat to avoid the snap trap trigger as it is centered in the runway between the two entry points. After the rat is caught in the snap trap, the unique shape of the Fast Catch hides the dead rodent from public view, while the red Rodent Alert button tells the PMP it’s time to inspect the station.

LG Life Sciences
The label for Fenvastar Plus 8.4% EC has been amended to include control of bed bugs through void treatments with aerosol-generating equipment such as Patriot, Actisol or B&G’s new Aerosol Generator Equipment, according to LG Life Sciences. By attacking bed bugs that are harboring in deep voids or have moved into new, cooler areas to avoid heat treatments, pest management professionals have a better chance of eliminating the problem, the company says. For this type of void treatment, Fenvastar can be diluted with a diluent oil or used with 0.5% to 1.0% oil-based pyrethrins. An appropriate IGR also may be added, the company says. According to LG Life Sciences, the void treatment control method can be part of a multi-faceted plan that complements vacuuming, steam, thermal or freezing protocols since the insecticide is placed in unseen areas.
Additionally, Fenvastar Plus now has been registered for ULV fogging in food-processing plants, food-handling establishments, warehouses, storage areas and other large indoor, commercial sites for control of cockroaches, spiders, flying insects, scorpions and stored product pests. The amended label is still pending in New York and California.

DuPont Professional Products
DuPont Professional Products recently announced that DuPont Altriset termiticide has been registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and state registration applications have been made. DuPont Altriset, the first soil-applied liquid termiticide launched in almost a decade, is in a class of chemistry with a mode of action like no other termite control product, the manufacturer states.
Laboratory and field study results show that termites stop feeding within hours of treatment and are eliminated for critical long-term structural protection. Also, Altriset offers an excellent environmental profile, the company reports. DuPont Altriset does not require a signal word on the label, and is the first liquid termiticide to be classified as reduced-risk by the U.S. EPA.
Laboratory tests have shown Altriset is highly effective against termites, DuPont says. As termites tunnel through the treated zone, they quickly stop feeding. Once affected by Altriset, termites begin to exhibit increased aggregation, enhanced grooming and contact with other colony members for hours.

Liphatech
New from Liphatech is the Aegis-RP Anchor, a security offering designed to improve overall cleanliness and professionalism while eliminating the need for glue, drills, screws or paving stones. According to Lipha-tech, the anchor reduces labor costs because it comes pre-assembled.
The anchor is a 12½-pound concrete block heavy enough to keep the station in place, the company says. Two embedded bolts secure the station to the block, and quick-release wing nuts allow for fast cleaning or moving.
The block is constructed of building-grade concrete, Liphatech reports. The Aegis-RP Anchor fits flush against a wall and offers no harborage. The bait station only can be detached from the anchor by opening the station with the Aegis key. The Aegis-RP Anchor is available in a carton of two units that weighs 27½ pounds.

YPIL Group & Ensystex
YPIL Group’s Pest Elimination division has partnered with Ensystex to market professional pest control products using YPIL’s proprietary dry flow magnetic powder technology, Magthanite.
According to the companies, Ensystex will import YPIL’s patented Magthanite powder and blend active ready-to-use products in two Ensystex facilities. Products will be rolled out as registrations are obtained across 13 countries, including the United States.
The Magthanite technology is designed to be an innovative approach to crawling insect control, with an initial launch to be marketed under the Ensystex Blattathor brand for cockroach control. Ensystex says it also plans to expand the technology into products targeting ants, termites and bed bugs. According to the companies, the magnetic powder and added active ingredient utilizes the magnetic charge of a cockroach’s exoskeleton to adhere to the foraging cockroach and then be transferred into the harborage, where it is further transferred via contact and ingestion. The insecticide yields a "Multiple Cascade Effect," Ensystex says, or a chain-reaction of primary, secondary and tertiary mortality.

Santa Fe Products
Santa Fe Products, a division of Therma-Stor, has introduced the Santa Fe Total Encapsulation Solution, a moisture control system that includes a choice of top-quality commercial-grade or professional-grade vapor barriers made in the USA of reinforced polyester, polyethlene material; a Santa Fe Dehumidifier appropriately sized for the application; a complete sump pump kit, including a 15-gallon sump pump, a radon-approved basin with plumbed check valve and anti-float plate; a sump battery backup kit; and a condensate pump kit with 20 feet of drain hose.
The system also includes an encapsulation installation kit (high-quality seam tape, foundation sealing tape, industrial strength caulk, mechanical fasteners and a roll of felt 550) to ensure a permanent, quick, professional installation. In addition, the Total Encapsulation Solution features the company’s Santa Fe Crawlspace Alert, designed to enable remote monitoring of the crawlspace from the customer’s living space. The Crawlspace Alert also disables the dehumidifier if the condensate pump safety switch is engaged, preventing water from overflowing in the crawlspace, the company says. If the Crawlspace Alert detects high humidity levels that encourage mold, mildew or fungal growth, the orange warning lamp will light, alerting the homeowner to contact their pest control professional.
Santa Fe Products says its Total Encapsulation Solution represents an excellent business opportunity for pest control professionals who wish to expand and provide a complete moisture solution to customers while creating an additional revenue stream.
