FPMA Announces New Executive Vice President
ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Pest Management Association has named Sandra Nicotra as its new executive vice president.
Nicotra’s past association experience includes serving as former executive director of the Home Builders and Contractors Association of Brevard County (Fla.).
In a letter to members announcing the hire FPMA President Billy Riley wrote, “Many qualified candidates were introduced, and the search was narrowed to just a select few for the final in-person interviews. The Executive Committee performed the final in-person interviews in October during the NPMA’s PestWorld in Orlando. After much consideration, the decision was made to select Sandra to assume this vital role. Sandra is joining our team with association leadership after several years with the Home Builders and Contractors Association of Brevard. We feel that she will fill this position well and bring great things to our association and to our membership.” Also in the letter, Riley thanked FPMA’s executive vice president search committee, chaired by John Cooksey, for its hard work in the search process.
Riley told PCT that the committee was also impressed with Nicotra’s sales and marketing experience and some of the big-picture ideas she presented during the interview process. “FPMA was searching for a leader that was driven with great ideas and direction for increasing membership and for increasing benefits to existing members,” Riley said.
Nicotra hails from Owensboro, Ky., where she attended Owensboro College of Business, majoring in business administration. She has continued her education through courses at Ohio State University and Eastern Florida State College. In 1998, Nicotra and her husband, Anthony relocated to Melbourne, Fla., where Anthony is employed with Rockwell Collins.
Riley said that Nicotra is looking forward to traveling throughout the state and meeting with FPMA members one on one, and also at the upcoming 2015 Pest and Lawn Care Expo held Jan. 19-23, in Kissimmee, Fla.
FPMA’s previous executive vice president, Allen Fugler, resigned from the position July 31. He had held that position since 2007.

Mosquito Joe Signs 100th Territory in Two Years of Franchising
Virginia Beach, Va. — Mosquito Joe, a mosquito control treatment company serving residential and commercial customers nationwide, has hit a franchising milestone by signing its 100th territory this year. This achievement comes as the company celebrates its second year in franchising, positioning the brand to finish 2014 with strong momentum after exceeding its yearly growth goals, company representatives said.
“In 2013 we sold our first territory and we’re thrilled to be celebrating our 100th territory less than two years later; this is a tremendous accomplishment for Mosquito Joe,” said Mosquito Joe CEO Kevin Wilson. “We’re thrilled by the response we’ve seen with our proven business model and look forward to moving into new markets in the future.”
Mosquito Joe has grown its franchise system at record pace, the firm said. The brand’s original goal was to sell 51 territories in 2014, however Mosquito Joe already topped its goal by 12, rounding out its new territories sales to 63. Mosquito Joe also has surpassed its overall goal of selling a total of 90 territories by the end of 2014; the brand exceeded that target, selling a total of 102 territories since its inception.
The 100th territory will open in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas by entrepreneurs Todd and Rhonda Cheatham, who credit the brand’s ongoing success to strong franchisee support and exceptional customer service.
“We’re very excited to be joining Mosquito Joe and celebrating this major accomplishment with the entire team,” Todd said. “The brand has a positive effect on so many people and we’re looking forward to providing such a beneficial service to our community.”
Mosquito Joe has locations across 21 states, which, according to the firm, demonstrates that the seasonal concept works across climates, from northern Minnesota to the most southern tip of Texas and Florida. In 2015, the brand will continue expanding into new states across the country, including California. Additionally, the company will continue to build out existing states with a focus on Texas, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee.
