Fred Clute, senior vice president of Rhodes Chemical Company, Kansas City, Kan., recently retired after 33 years of service to the company. Clute will continue to work on special projects for Rhodes, in addition to offer consulting services to the industry.

Massey Services, Orlando, Fla., has announced several personnel changes recently. Rick Beard has been named senior vice president of the company. In his new position, Beard will be responsible for managing the company’s GreenUP Lawn, Tree and Shrub Care division, PreventTech commercial division and The Villages’ division.

Tony Massey has been promoted to vice president. He will take over manage-ment duties for Massey’s Central Florida Region.

David Mougeot has been promoted to regional manager for Massey’s Southern Florida Region.

Bud Brewer has been named vice president, marketing and public relations for Massey Services. Brewer was previously the director of marketing for the company.

One last announcement at Massey Services: Tim Maguire has been promoted to vice president, business development. Maguire had been the company’s director of business development.

Dean Brad, a student majoring in entomology at Purdue University, was recently awarded the Robert A. Oakes/B.&D.A. Weisburger Memorial Scholar-ship. He received the award at the Purdue University conference in January.

Michael Xillas is the new vice president of marketing for Chapin Manufacturing. Prior to joining Chapin, Xillas served as a management consultant for Momentum Associates International. In his new role, he will be responsible for Chapin’s marketing communications efforts, market planning, new product develop-ment, market research, packaging and merchandising.

Dale Wisser has been named vice president of technical services at S.E.C.U.R.E Insurance/The Wyomissing Group, Ltd. Wisser has served as the loss control adviser at S.E.C.U.R.E the last 11 years and also sees double duty as a claims investigator. Prior to joining S.E.C.U.R.E., Wisser worked for Western Termite and Pest Control in Wilmington, Del.

Lauren Schaap and Dino Rivera have invested in Truly Nolen franchises. Schaap is the owner of a Truly Nolen franchise in Snohomish County, Wash., while Rivera is the owner of a Truly Nolen franchise in Puerto Rico.

25-Year Attendance Awards

Three individuals were recognized at the Purdue Conference with 25-year attendance awards. Kim Mountain, accepting for his father George, president of Mooresville Pest Control, Mooresville, Ind.; Tom Horton, International Exterminator Co., Elk Grove Village, Ill.; and Dr. Eldon Ortman, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind.

10-Year Attendance Awards

Purdue University recognized the following individuals with 10-year awards at its annual conference: Dave Shangle, Andex Inc., Elmhurst, Ill.; Johnny Gates, Harlan Bakeries, Avon, Ind.; Dr. Gerald Wegner, Varment Guard, Columbus, Ohio; and Alain VanRyckeghem, Insects Unlimited, Indianapolis, Ind.
