FAIRFAX, VA – As much of the nation waits patiently for the arrival of spring, the pest control industry is readying itself for termite season. To help prepare consumers as well, the Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA), which serves as the public outreach arm of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), is working to educate homeowners during Termite Awareness Week, March 7-13, 2021. This annual designation is recognized by Chase’s Calendar of Events and serves as a crucial reminder to homeowners about the property risks and costly damage associated with termites.
“Termites cause an astounding $5 billion in property damage in the United States annually, a cost that is typically not covered by homeowners’ insurance,” said Cindy Mannes, PPMA Executive Director. “We are calling on our industry partners to help ensure homeowners understand that a termite infestation is not a do-it-yourself task and that pest control professionals are standing at the ready to help them protect one of their biggest investments—their home.”
To spread the word about this destructive pest, PPMA will launch various media relations efforts and social media campaigns on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter dedicated to sharing important termite information. Industry members are encouraged to participate using the hashtag #TermiteAwarenessWeek on all social media channels when posting content about termites.
Mainframe subscribers can visit PPMAMainframe.org in March for access to an exclusive toolkit that includes downloadable assets for companies to use in their own media relations efforts, such as a customizable press release, suggested social media content, Termite Awareness Week logos and headers, media training documents and high-resolution photography.
