Whitmire Research Laboratories, St. Louis, Mo., is a leading supplier of prepressurized insecticides to the pest control industry. The company coined the phrase Prescription Treatment to describe it’s Crack and Crevice treatment regimen. What follows is a review of the benefits offered by this innovative technology, along with a brief review of the safety precautions PCOs should take when using Whitmire products.
BENEFITS:
- Translocation studies conducted by the company show that applying Whitmire Prescription Treatment with precision to specific locations is more successful and more environmentally responsible than tradition methods. When compared to conventional baseboard treatment, 30 times less translocation of the active ingredient occurred using Whitmire’s Crack and Crevice treatment. The insecticide also remains toxic to insects longer when applied into cracks and crevices.
- When applied to an insect harborage site, the technical insecticide is deposited in its original form and the inert solvents and gasses quickly dissipate.
SAFETY TIPS:
- Containers which are not completely empty or do not operate to the satisfaction of the PCO should be returned to the distributor from whom the product was purchased. In turn, distributors should return the containers to Whitmire so that the ingredients can be recycled.
- To avoid splashback when using Whitmire Crack & Crevice insecticides investigate the depth of an opening with the void injector before application.
- When treating voids, check to be sure that there is no equipment in the void that might be damaged by treatment.
- To prevent possible surface damage when conducting a space/ULV treatment, discharge the product at a minimum distance of 18 to 24 inches from surfaces.
