AMS PRO SYSTEM OFFERS AUGER, CUP CUTTER
This patent-pending 1 7/8-inch Flighted Station Auger from AMS Samplers is designed to be used for all 2-inch bait stations currently on the market. It is made of 4130-alloy steel with a carbide edge and cutting tip. The double flights make this auger ideal for use in hard, dry and clay soils.
The Pro System Cup Cutter is made of stainless steel for rust resistance. It is attached to the flighted auger with a left hand rope thread for strength and durability. The cup cutter is used for a flush level station mount which increases moisture retention and termite activity. The Pro System Auger can be used with or without the cup cutter.
AMS manufactures several types of power augers and carries a large variety of drills. For a catalog containing the company’s complete line of equipment call 800/635-7330 or visit the company online at www.ams-samplers.com.
NEW ECONOMICAL FIBER OPTIC INSPECTION TOOL
Put fiber optics to work for you! Many PCOs are choosing to make A-telescope from A-tel an essential part of their inspection tools.
All that is needed is an opening of ¼” to ½” in diameter. Simply insert the A-telescope, push the button to activate the halogen lamp, focus with the high-resolution lens and you are there amidst the pests. Use in walls, ceilings, floor voids, chimneys, foundations, sills, burrows, and under inaccessible porches, sheds and slab foundations.
Once you have properly identified the target pest you can choose the correct method of treatment. Knowing what you are up against reduces callbacks. Make A-telescope a part of your everyday inspection tools.
For more information about A-telescope call 800/426-6852 or visit www.A-telescope.com.
ELIMINATE SUBTERRANEAN TERMITE SPECIES
Phantom® termiticide-insecticide from BASF is a nonrepellent product that effectively eliminates subterranean termite species from infested structures and protects those structures from further invasion. It is also labeled for indoor use in cracks and crevices to control general pests such as ants and cockroaches.
Its effectiveness was demonstrated in nearly 500 experimental use permit (EUP) trials across the United States in a wide variety of structural types.
Phantom is a significant new tool for pest management professionals who are facing even the most persistent, troublesome termite infestations. This was proven through the most comprehensive EUP program ever undertaken. The majority of structures treated in the Phantom EUP trials had high levels of infestation with various termite species, including the aggressive Formosan species. The excellent residual activity of Phantom is another important benefit, since the areas treated retain their effectiveness and will continue to defend the structure against the continual siege of termites over a long period of time.
Phantom provides the same excellent performance across the full range of soil types, pH ranges and percentage of organic matter in the soil. Because it is a nonrepellent, it does not create a barrier that can trap termites within a structure. Since Phantom is not detected in the soil, termites move through the treated area, picking up an effective dose. Subsequent contact with other colony members helps transfer the dose and accelerates population reduction. Ultimately, the product reaches other damage-causing termites that are well within the structure.
ACTIVE BAIT FROM DAY ONE OF INSTALLATION
Subterfuge® termite bait from BASF is the first and only professional termite bait station product that contains active bait from day one of installation, thus providing immediate termite control. In structural field trials, termites found and were recruited to the baits within one month after installation and were eliminated within five to six months. In cases of repeated exposure, mortality resulted within seven to 14 days. Subterfuge, which contains the delayed-action termiticide hydra-methylnon, controls all subterranean termite species commonly found in the U.S., including Formosans.
The effectiveness of Subterfuge has been proven through extensive laboratory research. Subterfuge has an attractive bait matrix that is quickly detected by termites, promoting recruitment that causes the termites to share the bait and accelerate population reduction.
An additional benefit is that the containment within the bait station reduces exposure to humans, pets, other animals and the environment. The low-use rate (0.3 percent active) also means less pesticide load.
Pest professionals appreciate the highly attractive bait matrix of Subterfuge and the immediate installation of live bait.
Subterfuge is packaged in a “Home Care Kit.” This box includes everything needed to protect a typical home against termites for one year: 24 baiting stations, 24 Subterfuge live active bait cartridges for initial application, 12 replacement bait cartridges, a home registration form that qualifies you for replacement pricing, a termite inspection worksheet, 5 monitoring worksheets and doorhangers to inform homeowners of Subterfuge installations.
DETECT HOUSE DUST MITE ALLERGENS IN CUSTOMERS’ HOMES
Recent research studies suggest that nearly 44 percent of all U.S. homes have house dust mite levels high enough to trigger allergic sensitization and the development of symptoms.
Aveho Biosciences Inc. introduces the MITE-T-FastTM Allergen Detection System, a small hand-held, disposable device for the detection of dust mite (D. farinae and D. pteronyssinus) allergen in the home environment. This affordable and easy to use device can identify problem areas in the home such as bedding, carpeting, and upholstered furnishings. Rub the device on a suspected area for one minute followed by the addition of five drops of buffer solution. Semi-quantitative results can be read in 10 minutes.
In the case of a positive test result, pest management professionals can initiate a remediation program with an EPA-approved dust mite and flea control product. For more information call 866/590-0972 or visit www.avehobiosciences.com.

CAMOUFLAGE BAIT, BLOCKS, SNAP TRAPS AND MORE
The Rodent Rock bait station from J.L. Innovations simulates a landscape rock that could be found in any natural setting to lend itself as part of the habitat. This unique feature allows the PCO to set the bait station where it needs to be rather than “out of sight” where it has to be so the aesthetics of the landscape are not affected. Like its earlier model it comes in slate gray, granite and sandstone colors.
The Rodent Rock’s low profile and camouflaged entry points make it blend naturally into the surrounding landscape. It has a “clam-shell” type opening that opens from the top by using a slotted screw driver into a key hole on the front of the rock and with a quarter turn it unlocks and opens quickly. Its inside compartment has a waterproof baiting system that allows you to use block, pellet or liquid bait and even will hold a rat Kness snap trap. Now you don’t need to worry about the rain or yard sprinklers ruining your bait. Its patented quick release snap lock makes quick work of securing your block baits that will hold under any severe activity that may occur. The station comes with a salt pad that deters slugs and snails from entering the bait compartment and the pad also is attractive to rodents as a salt lick. There is a predrilled ½-inch hole in the bottom to allow any kind of anchoring stake, such as our popular “cable stake,” to be used.
