A new ant bait station has been developed by JL Innovations and is now available through several major distributors. This bait station, called the Ant Rock Cafe, looks and feels just like a landscape rock. It weighs only a few ounces and will blend in with the existing landscape so that no one can tell that it is actually a bait station. The station comes in four colors, dark granite, light granite, sandstone and slate. It has a bait tray that will hold any type of ant bait on the market. The station comes with a five-year record card, which is preprinted on a durable plastic card that can be marked with the date and material used by a hand-held 1/8-inch hole punch, and installed on the underside of the top lid of the bait station. The station is packed six per box and eight boxes per case. The station can be secured to the ground by means of a detachable stake that is included with each station.

Bell Laboratories Inc. has introduced the Trapper T-Rex, a rat trap. Made of durable plastic and rust-resistant metal, Trapper T-Rex is constructed to be used over and over. Trapper T-Rex also gives professionals a safer alternative to current dangerous rat snap traps, the manufacturer says. Pest management professionals can integrate it as a new tool for special situations, too, like chemical-free accounts. Safer and easier to use than current snap traps, Trapper T-Rex can be readily set by foot safely on the ground. Press the trap open like a pedal, keeping fingers free and safe. Trapper T-Rex can also be easily set by hand. Patented, interlocking teeth make rat escapes virtually impossible, Bell says. Bell included a removable bait cup that inserts from the bottom of Trapper T-Rex. The cup can be withdrawn and re-inserted without the trap being set, which greatly enhances safety and ease of use. PCOs can use Trapper T-Rex along a rat pathway or they can insert it into a tamper-resistant bait station. Trapper T-Rex is designed specifically to fit inside Protecta and Protecta Sidewinder bait stations.
