Dodson Bros. Lend A Helping Hand
Lynchburg, Va. — For 11 years, Dodson Bros. has been helping the Lynchburg, Va., Chapter of Habitat for Humanity become one of the most successful in the country. Habitat for Humanity recently celebrated the construction of its 200th home in the Lynchburg area. For every home built, Dodson has donated a soil treatment for protection against termites, providing both labor and termiticide. Dodson also contributes a percentage of its corporate profits to the local Habitat for Humanity Chapter each year.
"There’s a tremendous need for affordable housing here and in other communities," says Dodson CEO Bert Dodson, Jr. "We are just happy to be a part of making dreams a reality for many Lynchburg families."
Habitat for Humanity receives its funding through private donations from corporations, churches and individuals. Mary Adams, executive director of the Lynchburg Habitat for Humanity, says the contributions from Dodson and other companies and organizations have made their program successful. "It’s hard to believe we have come so far in such a short period of time," she said. "Building 200 homes in one community is quite an accomplishment and one the whole community can be very proud of."

The mission of Gilda’s Club is to provide places where people with cancer and their families and friends can join with others to build social and emotional support as a supplement to medical care.
CPCO and Accurate Pest Control also donated a termite job to a member of the Children’s Home Society of Florida. CPCO provided the needed fumigant and Accurate Pest Control provided the labor and tents. The Children’s Home Society provides support services to mentally challenged adults.
Scherzinger Keeps Cincinnati Beautiful
Cincinnati — Steve Scherzinger of Scherzinger Pest Control recently accepted the Volunteer Leadership Award from the Cincinnati Civic Garden Association, an award presented to sponsors and individuals that compete for upkeep of area gardens.
Through Keep Cincinnati Beautiful, Scherzinger Pest Control planted about 15 Butterfly Gardens at various public, private and city sites in its service area.
"Five years ago for Scherzinger’s 60th anniversary, we came up with the idea to donate funds to establish a butterfly garden at the Krohn Conservatory of the Cincinnati Park System," said Bery Pannkuk, Scherzinger’s pest control service manager. The first garden, planted at the Krohn Conservatory in the Cincinnati Park System, garnered first place recognition among companies involved in civic beautification. Scherzinger has partnered with Keep Cincinnati Beautiful, a group that donates funds that are disbursed as parts of grants for garden development.
