PCT SALUTES AWARD-WINNING PEST CONTROL FIRMS

A-ACTIVE NAMED VIRGINIA BEACH SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR FOR 2003

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. — A-Active Termite & Pest Control Company was named Virginia Beach Small Business of the Year for 2003. The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Small Business Development Center of Hampton Roads Inc., announced the awards on April 23.

"It is a great honor to be recognized for our accomplishments," said Kevin Kordek, president of A-Active. "We have worked very hard to build a business that is customer driven and gives something back to the community that we serve."

A-Active has served all of Southeastern Virginia for 35 years. In addition to termite and pest control services, A-Active offers moisture control and repair services. In 2002, a holiday lighting services was introduced.

 

SERVISPROS NAMED ONE OF VIRGINIA’S FANTASTIC 50 COMPANIES

WOODBRIDGE, VA. — ServisPros, a Woodbridge, Va.-based company serving Northern Virginia and the metropolitan region, has been selected by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce as one of the state’s "Fantastic 50 Companies." The company, which was formerly known as AAA Pest Pros Inc., was selected for its business climate and contributions to the commonwealth’s economic progress.

ServisPros received the statewide award at the Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s 8th annual ceremony in Richmond, Va. The award is given to 50 Virginia companies each year that have been part of the state’s economic progress. Companies are selected by a panel of high-profile Virginia businesses.

ServisPros, which has been family owned and operated since 1995, offers termite and pest control services as well as home inspections and lawn services. The company is also known for its community outreach efforts, which includes the Bug Box, its teaching arm and exotic insect zoo that educates school-aged children and residents about the important role insects play in the environmental chain.

 

VARMENT GUARD WINS CONSUMERS’ CHOICE AWARD

COLUMBUS, OHIO — Varment Guard Environmental Services Inc. of Columbus and Ashland, Ohio, has been awarded the 2003 Consumers’ Choice Award in the category of Local Pest Control Services. This is the second consecutive year in which Varment Guard has been chosen by Columbus area survey participants to receive what consumer researchers consider to be a: "well deserved recognition by consumers for their city’s finest businesses."

Varment Guard Environmental Services Inc. has been in the general pest, termite and nuisance wildlife management business since 1983 and is co-owned and operated by Jim Vaive, Sandy Vaive, John Livingston, Scott Steckel and Gerry Wegner.
