If the last couple of years have taught us anything, it’s that having multiple tools in our arsenal to solve problems is absolutely critical. That’s something the pest management industry has known for a while: how to be resourceful, how to power through adversity, and how to adapt by utilizing and growing our toolbox to find solutions.
The challenges have been many: In early 2020, some companies let employees go, not knowing the business conditions they were going to encounter. Next, learning to address social distancing requirements became crucial, as well as determining how some employees could work from home. Then came the labor shortage! All throughout, as increased numbers of homeowners stayed at home, termites were unaware of the challenges society was facing. They continued attacking homes but this time, the public was there 24/7 to see them. In fact, according to the data in this 2022 State of the Termite Control Market report, 71 percent of PMPs said that since customers were spending more time at home, they become aware of termite issues in their home sooner than in the past.
Changing dynamics like these mean PMPs need to continue to think critically about how to best solve their customers’ problems and adapt their toolkits accordingly, ensuring the right mix of products is always at the ready.
