PMPs Use AMS Samplers’ Augers for Installation of 2-inch Bait Stations
This one-piece, 2-inch diameter auger head from AMS Samplers is capable of augering to a depth of 3 feet. The cross handle is welded to the steel extension shaft, which is then welded to the top of the auger head. This one-piece design is versatile, lightweight and easy to carry, the manufacturer says. It requires no assembly in the field and works well in a variety of soil conditions, AMS adds.
BASF Offers Extensive Termite Portfolio
BASF offers a comprehensive line of termite products. With its larger station size, the Trelona Advance Termite Bait System features novaluron, which promotes faster termite discovery, faster consumption and faster colony elimination.- Non-repellent Termidor Termiticide/Insecticide eliminates termites by both ingestion and contact, and is lethal to termites via the “Transfer Effect.” Termidor H-E High-Efficiency Termiticide features a novel technology that carries the termiticide deeper into the soil, resulting in less trenching, less drilling, less water and less application time, according to BASF.
- Termidor Foam is ideal for spot treatments in wall voids and Termidor 80 WG is formulated as a dry powder containing 80 percent active ingredient and is packaged in water-soluble packages. Termidor Dry Termiticide features a patented Microllose-based formulation that can be applied directly to termite galleries in wood, carton nests, or shelter tubes in or away from structures.
- Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide features chlorfenapyr, which is undetectable to termites.
Bayer Offers Premise 75WP Buy Two, Get One Free Promotion
Bayer offers PMPs its Premise 75WP buy two, get one free promotion. When PMPs buy two cases of Premise 75WP, they get one free until Sept. 30. With outstanding efficacy, Premise is the best value for a non-repellent termiticide on the market, Bayer says. In addition to its water-soluble packaging, Premise can be applied at the lowest rate currently available.
Premise 75 WP is a non-repellent termiticide that offers high performance, affordability and excellent value, the manufacturer reports. This product cannot be detected by termites, so they tunnel into the treated zone and become exposed to the active ingredient, imidacloprid.
Control Solutions Offers Taurus SC 10-Year and Fuse 8-Year Promises of Protection
Control Solutions Inc. (CSI) reports it is offering new Promises to pest management professionals. “We promise to stand behind and warranty our termiticide products Taurus SC and Fuse,” the firm recently said. Should a PMP need to re-treat a structure, CSI will cover the cost of re-treatment, including chemicals and labor or insurance deductible costs.
CSI will be offering the Taurus SC Ten-Year Promise and the Fuse Fits Eight-Year Promise. The firm says it is developing a new area of its website where PMPs can go online to learn the proper application methods, learn inspection techniques, download tools and register structures to be covered by the these Promises.
Douglas Products Offers Vikane, ProFume Fumigants
Douglas Products acquired the Vikane and ProFume gas fumigant business from Dow AgroSciences. The purchase includes all related business assets, including the manufacturing plant in Pittsburg, Calif.
“Customers will continue to get the same product quality and support that have made Vikane and ProFume market-leading brands,” says Bill Fuller, Douglas CEO. “On the products side our name is now on the door of the state-of-the-art manufacturing plant. We own the plant, but it will continue to be operated for us by experienced Dow employees to ensure the product quality that customers rely upon.”
“The field sales and technical support staff backing Vikane and ProFume is among the best in the business,” says Janet Rowley, pest management global business leader for Douglas. “We will continue to work hard to ensure all of our customers and fumigators get the same great products, service and support they have received throughout my 30-plus years in the business.”
Heather Kern, global marketing leader for Douglas, says the acquisition of Vikane and ProFume creates new potential for both the fumigant brands and the company.
“The message to our distributor partners and fumigation customers is that we will continue to provide the same high-quality products backed with industry-leading regulatory support,” she added. “Beyond that we see opportunities to expand label directions, uses and market geographies.”
Recruit HD Obtains U.S. Patent
Recruit HD termite bait has received U.S. patent protection. Featured in the Sentricon System with Always Active technology, the Recruit HD bait formulation was developed to be highly durable, highly desirable to termites and highly dense, Dow AgroSciences says.
“The patent for Recruit HD bait comes after more than 10 years of research and development by Dow AgroSciences,” says Natalie Ciambrone, product manager for the Sentricon System. “For Certified Sentricon Specialists (CSS) the patent helps ensure important market distinction with the homeowners they serve until 2032.”
Commercial success for the Sentricon System with Always Active technology — which Dow AgroSciences says was the most rapid adoption of a termite technology in the history of pest management — was a factor in the patent approval, she adds. Demand by both CSSs and homeowners demonstrated that the bait was an important advancement in home protection technology.
The Recruit HD formulation uses a highly dense cellulose bait matrix containing noviflumuron as the active ingredient. In field research, the bait formulation has remained effective for eight years and counting, Dow AgroSciences says. Recruit HD bait is highly palatable to termites in side-by-side choice tests, and it becomes even more palatable as it ages in Sentricon stations.
The highly dense formulation is important as Recruit HD is the only termite bait labeled for an annual service schedule, Dow AgroSciences says. Each Recruit HD bait contains 150 grams of bait material, more than enough to eliminate a typical termite colony.
EZE Termite Bait Station From Ensystex
The Ensystex Isopthor EZE termite bait station gives PMPs the flexibility of an every three- to four-month monitored baiting program. Ensystex says the EZE can alleviate bottom line pressure while increasing termite baiting efficacy. The Isopthor system offers components at a comfortable price point, the firm adds.
The EZE bait station employs the use of an industry-weathered and time-proven active; diflubenzuron, a chitin synthesis inhibitor. Each bait cartridge is a compact 93g or 120g package of pure methyl-cellulose impregnated with the active. The cartridges are wrapped in an environmentally friendly and termite digestible burlap wrapper, accessible to the termite from any and every angle.
Ensystex says the low-profile EZE station lid is easily accessed with the provided station key and is further simplified by using the optional and extendable all-metal key. PMPs can ask their Ensystex Regional Representative about customizing station lids.
FMC Offers Totality Wood Treatment for Enhanced Profitability
Totality Wood Treatment from FMC employs an easy-to-mix, easy-to-apply, and easy-to-store formulation with the termite-fighting ability of FMC bifenthrin, the firm says. A liquid formulation that mixes easily in water in both cold and hot climates, Totality Wood Treatment repels and kills termites and other wood-destroying organisms. It takes up less space (1 quart makes 10 finished gallons) and eliminates the need for specialized mixing equipment. Totality cleans up easily and minimizes wear on expensive equipment. Totality’s label specifies one coat to timber and timber-based products while competitive products require two coats, allowing pest management professionals to save up to 20 minutes per wood treatment service, FMC reports.
Totality Wood Treatment provides wood protection for pre-construction, post-construction, industrial pressure treatment and existing WDO infestations. It is labeled for drywood and subterranean termites (including Formosan termites), carpenter ants, powderpost beetles, deathwatch beetles, old house borers and other wood-destroying pests.
Lorien Instruments Offers Time-Tested Drilling Protection

The PROTEK II stops power to a drill instantly when the drill bit touches grounded metal, such as metal pipes, conduit and rebar — while the built-in GFCI enhances jobsite safety. The rugged and reliable PROTEK II is available from PCO suppliers nationwide.
Millions of Homes Treated with Bora-Care
In 2010, 1 million homes had been treated with a Bora-Care primary termite new construction treatment. Today that total is 1.6 million. More PMPs and builders are moving to Bora-Care treatments because Bora-Care gives PMPs a sustainable and economic alternative to traditional termite treatments, Nisus reports.
Bora-Care poses minimal risk of run-off into water systems during treatment. Nisus adds that the product speeds up the building process, often saving builders a full day of cycle time. Bora-Care delivers long-term residual benefit that protects the wood from termites and other WDOs including decay fungi for years. It is backed by a 30-year damage repair limited warranty.
CimeXa Insecticide Dust from Rockwell Labs Ltd Provides Control of Drywood Termites
CimeXa Insecticide Dust provides exceptional treatment for the prevention and control of drywood termites and remains viable for up to 10 years if undisturbed, Rockwell Labs Ltd reports. The product is comprised of 100 percent amorphous silica gel and is odorless, non-repellent and features an extremely low toxicity profile, the firm adds.
This insecticide also is effective against bed bugs (including pyrethroid- and neonicotinoid-resistant strains), spiders, fleas, ticks, lice, cockroaches, ants, firebrats, silverfish and mites. The label allows for pest management professionals to use the product to treat cracks, crevices, attics, voids and many other areas. For greater application diversity, CimeXa also may be mixed with water and sprayed, which will leave a fine coating of the dust once dried.
CimeXa is packed in quarts, which hold 4 ounces of the light dust and 5-gallon pails that hold 5 pounds. The standard usage rate is 2 ounces per 100 square feet.
Altriset: A Delayed Toxicant That Spreads Throughout Colonies
Altriset termiticide from Syngenta Professional Pest Management can provide long-term structural protection from termites by paralyzing termites’ mouthparts and halting feeding within hours of exposure. Because of the delayed toxicant, exposed termites can still walk, groom and aggregate for an extended period of time, which enhances the spread of Altriset throughout the colony.
Altriset provides timely control that lasts, Syngenta says. Laboratory observations have shown that when non-exposed (recipients) termite workers of R. hesperus were put together with exposed termites (donors), 100 percent mortality of both exposed and unexposed groups was observed within seven days.
Even nine years after application, Altriset was still providing excellent control of termites in the U.S. Forest Service field tests, including 100 percent control in Mississippi, where termites are particularly challenging to control, Syngenta says. Therma-Stor Helps Control Moisture, Termites
By controlling the moisture that termites need to survive, through dehumidification, fewer insecticides can be used inside the home.
The Santa Fe Advance2 features exclusive dual exhaust that is specifically designed to provide the optimal amount of airflow in crawlspaces. “The Santa Fe Advance2 is engineered to deliver the airflow to keep every corner of the crawlspace dry,” said Rebecca Lidstrom, Santa Fe product manager. “The small footprint of the unit ensures installation flexibility and the dual exhaust powerfully circulates the air throughout the entire space, in order to deliver the maximum amount of treated air in a shorter time frame.”
The Santa Fe Advance2 removes 90 pints of water a day and conditions crawlspaces up to 2,200 square feet. It exceeds Energy Star requirements — drawing 5.7 amps and delivering an energy factor of 3.0 L/kWh. The unit is optimized for low-temperature operation, provides MERV 8 air filtration and is engineered for quiet operation.
The optional condensate pump and ducting kit can provide the installation flexibility necessary for almost any application, the firm says.
