Time To Shine

Now celebrating its 12th year, the Leadership Awards, sponsored by PCT magazine and Zeneca Professional Products, spotlight individuals who have contributed positively to the growth of the structural pest management industry as well as established strong ties with fellow business leaders and customers in their communities. This year’s Leadership Award winners represent a diverse cross-section of the pest management industry in terms of company size and location, but all share the common thread of professionalism.

The nine recipients of this year’s Leadership Awards were recognized in a special Leadership Issue edition of PCT magazine (mailed together with the October issue) and at an October 19, 2000, reception at The Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas during the 2000 National Pest Management Association convention. More than 150 people attended the ceremony, including this year’s winners, past winners and a wide variety of those involved in the pest control industry.

"This year, as well as throughout the past decade, it has been an honor and a privilege for me to share the stories of our Leadership winners with the pest control industry, stories characterized by extraordinary personal sacrifice; stories filled with tales of both great joy and great tragedy; stories that shed light on our strengths and weaknesses as human beings...the best kinds of stories because they are a reflection of our humanity," said PCT Publisher Dan Moreland.

"PCT takes great pride in recognizing professionalism and outstanding achievement in the pest management industry, and the Leadership Awards are an extension of the pride we feel," Moreland said. "It takes a great deal of creativity and persistence to succeed in this industry, and this year’s winners have clearly exhibited their abilities in these areas."

Those honored this year by PCT and Zeneca Professional Products were Bobby Corrigan, RMC Pest Management; Bonnie Everts, PESCO Pest Control Services; Robert Hartley, Truly Nolen of America Inc.; Stoy Hedges, Terminix International; Russ Ives, Bio-Serv Corporation; Ron Pelham, Dewey Pest Control; Rick Rogers, Rogers’ Service Advisors and Acquisition Consultants; Gary Rowell, Orkin Pest Control; and, Fred Strickland, Allied Bruce Terminix Companies.
