Versacor Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary
IMPACT, the company’s annual three-day, company-wide meeting, was held this year at Horseshoe Bay Resort, a resort overlooking the Colorado River. The meeting featured industry-specific guest speakers providing expert insight and knowledge on the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) as it relates to third-party audited facilities as well as pest bird management in commercial facilities. The event also featured an awards ceremony celebrating Versacor’s highest achievers in sales and service.
Additionally, Versacor was named one of the 100 best companies to work for in Texas in a 2019 statewide survey of employees and employers. The Best Companies to Work for in Texas awards program, which is managed by the Texas Association of Business (TAB), the Texas Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Texas Monthly magazine, was founded in 2006. To be considered, companies must meet the following criteria:
- Be a publicly or privately held business.
- Be a for-profit, not-for-profit business or government entity.
- Have a facility in the state of Texas.
- Have a minimum of 15 full-time or part-time employees working in Texas.
- Must be in business a minimum of one year.
The process for choosing the best companies to work for in Texas starts with an external evaluation of the company’s policies, practices and demographics. This portion of the process is worth 25 percent of the company’s overall score. The second part of the evaluation is an employee survey of leadership, culture, role satisfaction, training, pay, benefits, and overall employee engagement within the company. This part of the process is worth 75 percent of the company’s overall score. The combined scores are then used to rank each company within the category of small, medium and large businesses.
This marks the second year in a row that Versacor has received this award; the firm also was named as one of the 2018 Best Companies to Work for in Texas.
Rentokil Steritech Acquires Mosquito Control Services
In March, Rentokil Steritech announced its acquisition of private equity-owned Mosquito Control Services (“MCS”), based in Metairie, La.
Mosquito Control Services is one of the largest vector control companies in the United States, operating out of 10 offices in five Southeast states. Rentokil Steritech will merge MCS’s operations with its current vector control platform — Vector Disease Control International (VDCI).
Mosquito Control Services was acquired in 2014 by Scott Capital, a middle-market private equity firm, from its founders. Under the leadership of President Steve Pavlovich and COO Sam Stines, MCS has grown to be one of the leading government mosquito control contractors in the United States, the company says.
“We are excited to add Mosquito Control Services and its staff expertise to our expanding vector control business,” said John Myers, president and CEO of Rentokil North America. “As climate change continues to ripple across the environment, vector-borne diseases are increasing threats in North America. We are proud to have MCS join our team to be part of protecting the health and welfare of our customers and the public at large.”
“In contemplating the future of our company, the combination of Mosquito Control Services with VDCI was a tremendous opportunity for synergistic development and innovative growth in the vector segment,” commented Steve Pavlovich, president of Mosquito Control Services. “Our team is very excited about the opportunities that the integration of MCS and VDCI under Rentokil will create for our people, our customers and our industry. Rentokil’s national footprint and global resources give the combined vector division the ability to reach a broader market while providing our clients unparalleled, science-based service on the forefront of technology.”
Paul Giannamore, managing director of the Potomac Company’s Pest Control Group, commented, “Having advised on Rentokil North America’s acquisition of VDCI the prior year, I was able to get a front row seat into how the company has developed its vector control platform. The addition of MCS to VDCI makes Rentokil Steritech the undisputed global leader in the fight against vector-borne disease. Steve and his team at MCS have robust managerial capabilities, which will bring additional proficiency and insight to the team. Rentokil Steritech truly has the opportunity to own this space globally and I am excited to see what lies ahead for the business.”
Giannamore acted as exclusive financial adviser to Mosquito Control Services.
Clegg Family Student Housing Opens at Durham Rescue Mission
The Durham Rescue Mission is Durham, N.C.’s oldest and largest long-term homeless shelter, providing food, clothing, permanent supportive housing, vocational training, Biblical counseling, job placement, education, accountability and much more to those in need in Durham, Chapel Hill and Raleigh. On March 27, the Durham Rescue Mission dedicated the Clegg Family Student Housing facility.
The Clegg family (of Clegg’s Pest Control) provided the lead gift for this facility. In addition to this donation, the Cleggs were instrumental in providing the Center for Hope’s dining area, which is named for Phil Clegg’s parents, Ralph and Mildred Clegg. The Clegg family has supported Durham Rescue Mission since it began. In fact, in the early 1970s, Dr. Ernie Mills worked for Clegg’s while trying to get the Durham Rescue Mission off the ground. The Durham Rescue Mission is a 501(c)(3) organization that relies solely on gifts and volunteer efforts. The mission says its main goal is to mend lives by restoring families and giving hope to Durham, Raleigh and Chapel Hill.
The Clegg Family Student Housing facility will provide housing for up to 64 men who are working hard to get back on their feet. The facility includes a full kitchen, dining room, laundry room, bedrooms with private bathrooms and more. The study room allows men to read and do homework for classes they are taking.
“It has been our honor to work with the Durham Rescue Mission and aid their efforts in transforming lives,” said Phil Clegg, president of Clegg’s Pest Control. “Every member of Clegg’s Pest Control recognizes the importance of giving back to our community and helping others.”
Clegg’s Pest Control provides pest control throughout Raleigh, Durham, Charlotte from its 13 locations.
