PCT interviewed Karen Furgiuele, who shared the importance of women leadership in the pest control industry and the significance of winning NPMA's Women of Excellence award at PestWorld, Denver, Colo.
Karen Furgiuele of Gardex Chemicals, Ltd. in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, received the Women of Excellence Award. This award recognizes female pest management professionals who demonstrate outstanding leadership and have made notable contributions to the development and growth of other women in the industry. This award is sponsored by Target Specialty Products.Furgiuele has made history as the first woman and non-U.S. resident to be president of UPFDA Suppliers of Industry Solutions. She also has background in advocating for women in the industry, actively recruiting women to serve on provincial and national associations. She is also the first Canadian to receive this award.
