VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.  – Accel Pest Control announced that Brandon Thomas and George Stewart have achieved the VPMA Master Technician accreditation. This designation is part of a career-advancing program led by Virginia Tech University's Dr. Dini Miller, which offers in-depth knowledge and specialized skills in managing various pest groups.

The Virginia Pest Management Association (VPMA) Master Technician Program is composed of a series of workshops that investigate the biology, behavior, and control of eight major pest groups:

• Ants
• Bed bugs
• Blood-Sucking Arthropods
• Cockroaches
• Occasional Invaders
• Pest Flies
• Rodents
• Termites

To earn the VPMA Master Technician designation, participants must master at least four of these pest groups. However, many, like Brandon and George, go above and beyond to complete all eight workshops, further advancing their expertise and ability to control almost any pest they may encounter in the field.

Throughout the program, technicians dive deep into understanding the biology and behavior of pests. They learn to use microscopes and taxonomic keys to properly identify pests, which plays a crucial role in treatment selection and overall pest management. By accurately identifying pests, technicians can better tailor control methods to achieve the most effective results. Once the biology and identification process is mastered, participants explore all available control strategies, formulations, and tools to manage each pest group comprehensively.

“Earning the VPMA Master Technician designation sets a pest management professional (PMP) apart from your standard technician,” said Shon Vodila, president of Accel Pest Control. “Brandon and George’s hard work and dedication to mastering the biology and control of key pest groups reflects Accel Pest Control’s commitment to ongoing education and delivering the highest level of service to our clients.”
