Allergy Technologies Expands ATAHC Bed Bug Program

ATAHC Plus to include solutions for rodents, roaches and other nuisance pests in affordable housing.

PHILADELPHIA - Allergy Technologies announced the expansion of ATAHC, the company’s property-wide, prevention-based solution for bed bugs in affordable housing. ATAHC Plus now includes solutions for rodents, roaches, and other nuisance pests in affordable housing, building on the successful formula that resulted in ATAHC cutting bed bug reintroductions by more than 95%.

ATAHC is a strategic approach to pest control in affordable housing that employs technology, various product applications, treatment best practices, and, most importantly, developing a rapport with residents.

“Lack of receptivity is a major obstacle. You can’t provide pest control services if the resident doesn’t open the door,” said Joseph Latino, president of Allergy Technologies, the Ambler, Pa., company that offers the ATAHC Plus Program nationally.

According to Allergy Technologies, a 35 percent forced entry rate for pest control in affordable housing is not atypical.

“Because of our collaborative and empathic approach, the forced entry rate for ATAHC is 2 percent or less,” added Latino. “True cooperation and open communication between residents, property management, staff, and pest control professionals are the foundation of ATAHC, and now ATAHC Plus.”

ATAHC Plus begins with a preliminary evaluation of the property, followed by a thorough treatment plan to remediate any current pest problems, both internally and externally. Monitoring devices are then installed to ensure efficacy is maintained, with ongoing quarterly monitoring, wherein treatment is applied as required. Like the proven ATAHC Program, ATAHC Plus improves the lives of residents while saving time and money for property management and staff.

“ATAHC Plus frees residents of the stigma, distress, fear of injury and illness, social isolation, and harm to personal dignity that living with persistent pest infestations can cause,” added Gus Carey, founder of Allergy Technologies. “In addition, ATAHC Plus may help address the high rate of asthma-suffering residents in affordable housing by reducing structural pests and their asthma-triggering allergens.”

A commitment to building trust and partnerships is key to the success of the Program.

“We’re changing how pest control is delivered in affordable housing,” said Dominique Sauvage, senior vice president for Allergy Technologies. “Respect for residents, strict quality control and quality assurance guidelines, transparency, and accountability are what makes this work; it’s a team effort because it truly takes a village to successfully prevent and control pests in this environment.”

Pest management professionals (PMPs) implementing prevention-based programs like ATAHC and ATAHC Plus save time, effort, and money with significant reductions in callbacks while building their reputations, earning client confidence and retention, Allergy Technologies reports.

“This is a great opportunity for PMPs to grow their businesses,” said Sauvage. “Callbacks cut into revenue, and ATAHC Plus is built to minimize them. Building a strong reputation in affordable housing and earning client’s trust, respect and confidence is a surefire way for PMPs to protect profits and positively impact their bottom lines.”

Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA), the first to successfully implement ATAHC, selected ATAHC Plus for general pest control after a robust bidding process. PHA began implementing ATAHC Plus to control rodents, roaches, and structural pests in March 2024. To date, PHA has seen an 80 percent decrease in mice and roaches.
