WASHINGTON – American Pest, an Anticimex company, is celebrating 100 years in business this year, marking a century of pest prevention services offered throughout the local Maryland, Virginia and DC regions.
“We are grateful to our long-standing customers and dedicated employees for getting us to this milestone,” said Kevin Poland, President at American Pest. “We attribute this centennial celebration to our ongoing commitment to trust, innovation, and accountability, which are the pillars of our success."
The company was originally founded in 1925 as an American Disinfectant Company with the philosophy of offering prompt and courteous service at a fair price.
The pest control company credits its success to its team of over 400 expertly-trained pest professionals including two Ph.D. entomologists, 10 associate-certified entomologists (ACE) and over 30 state-certified technicians.
Over the past 100 years, the pest management industry has embraced more sustainable solutions and incorporating modern technology to combat pests in more efficient ways, the company said. Along with these improvements to the science and application of pest control products, American Pest educates customers on the value of recurring services to provide year-round protection and to avoid thousands of dollars in infestation remediation.
American Pest launched this yearlong celebration by hosting an all-employee kickoff event and award ceremony on Jan. 30. The company is using the 100 year mark to reintroduce its brand with a refreshed logo and new trucks, plus it plans to launch a series of corporate social responsibility efforts through its AP Cares initiative.
“At American Pest, we believe that servicing the places where we live and giving back to the community is not only our responsibility, but also a privilege,” Poland said. “For the past 100 years, our team has not only provided pest control services to Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC residents and businesses, but we’ve also developed a strong commitment to supporting our neighbors and local non-profit organizations in efforts to give back to the communities where employees live and work.”
