Bronx Zoo announced the Name a Roach tradition is returning this Valentine’s Day where guests can give a “hiss from a rose” as they symbolically name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after a loved (or ex-loved) one.
Since 2011, over 56,000 cockroaches have been named after friends, family, loved ones, and not-so-loved ones. Some previous names have been inspired by music, movies, pop culture and more. For a $15 donation, guests will receive a digital certificate featuring the name chosen for the roach.
Guests can upgrade their donation to receive extra gifts like a roach belt bag, beanie, a plush, or virtually meet a live Madagascar hissing cockroach and learn about these creatures.
