DENVER Colo. – The Colorado Pest Control Association (CPCA) recently formed a PestVets state unit coordinated with pest control company members to collect more than 700 coats and pieces of winter weather gear for veterans in need.
PestVets is an initiative started by the National Pest Management Association and FMC to recognize veterans in the pest control industry and raise awareness of opportunities in the pest control industry for transitioning veterans.
“We wanted to do something to give back to those in need and show our appreciation for the service they have provided for our country,” CPCA President Curtis Krell said.
As part of this year’s inaugural event, service technicians coordinated with customers to collect coats while visiting homes and businesses to provide service treatments. On Wed., Dec. 13, all donated items will be given to Soldiers Angels, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that those who serve or have served are supported, uplifted, and remembered through a variety of support programs.
“It was a great community effort amongst our whole team and the people they serve,” Krell said. “We wouldn’t have been able to provide nearly as many resources without the support of our customers.
Northern Colorado Pest and Wildlife, Guardian Pest Management, Enviropest, Whitmore Pest & Wildlife Control, Academy Pest Control, Mountain Pest Control, Four Seasons Pest Management and Saela Pest Control all participated in the initiative. Pest control companies from the Arizona Pest Professional Association also supplied 200 coats to help support CPCA’s first PestVets initiative.
“AZPPO was very excited to get the opportunity to help CPCA serve their local veterans,” AZPPO President Dawn Aguayo said. “It’s always amazing to connect with new friends in the pest control industry and work with them to serve our communities.”
