Bert Dodson Begins Second Year as Virginia High School League Foundation President

The VHSL oversees athletic and academic competition in Virginia.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Bert Dodson, Jr. will begin his second year as Virginia High School League Foundation President effective July 1st, 2014.  

Dodson has been a member of the foundation’s board of directors since July of 2008 before being elected president in July 2013.  He is currently serving a two-year term.  Dodson is also president and CEO of Dodson Pest Control, with 35 offices serving Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Eastern Tennessee and the District of Columbia-Maryland metropolitan area.

The Virginia High School League recently celebrated its 100th anniversary with a luncheon at the University of Virginia.  The VHSL oversees athletic and academic competition in Virginia.  The Foundation is an extension of the VHSL.  Its mission is to stimulate ongoing statewide support for League activities and programs.  At the luncheon, Bert Dodson, Jr. had the honor to introduce keynote speaker Leland Melvin.  Melvin, a former athlete at Heritage High School in Lynchburg, Virginia, went on to become an engineer and NASA astronaut.  Melvin flew two missions on the space shuttle Atlantis.
