BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Service technician Trenton Passmore is a firm believer that glueboards are effective for both monitoring and controlling pests.
Passmore has been working at Orkin’s Bowling Green, Ky., branch as a residential and commercial pest control technician for about one year.
“What I lack in tenure, I more than make up for with the amount of personal research I do and the time I spend with frequent difficult initial services,” he said.
In a recent service, Passmore used a glueboard to help rid a residential home of cockroaches.
“While glueboards are good at monitoring the current level of activity, I'm finding that they are also a good method of control,” he said. “I see a lot of debate surrounding this idea in the [social media] pest control groups that I'm a part of, but I'm a firm believer that they can be used for both monitoring and control, and my results are a testament to this.”
Two weeks after placing a glueboard in a home’s kitchen, Passmore returned to find in the trap around 30 to 40 German cockroach nymphs emerging from their mother’s ootheca.
“If it wasn’t for this glueboard, these would have been released into the customer’s home,” he said.
Passmore said he often uses glueboards for active German cockroach infestations.
“A lot of products take time. This was instant control,” he said. “This instantaneously eliminated a large quantity of German roaches, including the potential future offspring of each of them. All it took was a simple glueboard placed in the kitchen.”
