Harvey Logan, Longtime EVP of PCOC, Passes Away

Logan worked tirelessly to advocate for the pest control industry in the state of California. He died on May 18.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Harvey Logan, longtime executive vice president of the Pest Control Operators of California, died on May 18.

Logan began his role as EVP in 1983 at PCOC, which was then located in Los Angeles.  He was instrumental in the professionalization of the association for the betterment and protection of our industry in California.

Logan spearheaded the move of the PCOC headquarters to Sacramento and led the effort to purchase and build the PCOC building on Beacon Ave.

“Harvey was the heartbeat of PCOC until his retirement in 2007 and even then he remained actively engaged in the protection of our industry,” said PCOC President Mike Bullert. “Perhaps more than his professional achievements, Harvey will be remembered as a dear friend to all that knew him.”

Harvey Logan Memories
It's hard to pick out just one remembrance as we did so many things together over the years. Besides being working colleagues, we became close personal friends. Some of my best memories of Harvey come from our accomplishments together working with the California Legislature on behalf of PCOC. While I was the Legislative Committee Chairman, Harvey always stood right with me, encouraging me and helping me deal with difficult situations. He was always there for me, and I knew that I could always count on his support. I think everyone he worked with during his years at PCOC would say the same thing. Harvey was always there for all of us. – Mike Katz, retired, Western Exterminator

Harvey was a tireless advocate for PCOC and for NPMA and he always had a smile and time to talk . Harvey did his research and was prepared to discuss regulatory issues on any level: local ,state , or national. The national industry benefited from his great association leadership in California. He was a friend and a true gentleman and will be missed . – Rick Bell, Arrow Exterminators

Harvey was a very good friend of mine and we spoke often during his active days as chief executive for PCOC and then afterwards when he was a consultant to Western Exterminator. We had many ‘raucous’ dinners in Sacramento and other places from time-to-time discussing the political atmosphere and topics at hand. Harvey, Mike Katz, Bob Rosenberg, Darrell Ennes and I carried on but Harvey was always the reserved and somewhat ‘embarrassed’ one over our ‘childish’ antics. He always had a great laugh – probably at us! We did business and had fun – certainly the necessary ingredients for getting things done and building trust in one another. Harvey was very well-respected by fellow PMP’s and regulators alike. – Norman Goldenberg, Namron Consulting
